I shivered.Can I shower first?

Yes.A flat answer, yet the intention behind it was underlined with possession.

He wanted to scrub Michael’s essence off my skin and replace it with his own.

Then he would claim me.

Bite me. Fuck me.Loveme.

Then, when he finished, he’d do it all over again.

Because he could.

Because I was his.

And he wasmine.

For better or worse.

For eternity and beyond.

CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVE

CAM

Thirty-Four Hours Later

“You’re seriously still goingon about this?” Ryder demanded, his attention on Kylan as Ismerelda and I entered the room. “Khalid chose me because he knows I’m the better shot.”

“How does he know that?” Kylan returned. “I don’t recall ever testing that theory.”

“It’s not a theory. It’s a fact.”

“It’s a theory,” Kylan tossed back at him. “One we’re going to test just as soon as we’re excused from all this political bullshit.”

“Aww, look at you two planning a date,” Damien drawled as he collapsed into a chair beside Ryder. “That’s adorable, really.”

“You know, I think I just decided who we can use for our littletest,” Ryder said conversationally, his attention still on Kylan. “Damien loves playing dodge the bullet. He’ll make the perfect target for our game.”

Kylan’s dark eyes lit up. “That does sound entertaining.”

“Oh, it will be,” Ryder murmured, smiling as he rotated toward his second. “Won’t it, Damien?”

Ismerelda’s twin simply stared at the royal. “I’ll only play if I’m also given a gun and allowed to return fire.”

Ignoring their continuing banter, I pressed my palm to Ismerelda’s lower back and led her deeper into the room.

It was an open space, one clearly meant to host large parties. But it was all centered around a circular stage rather than a table.

The royals had begun selecting chairs, as had several alphas, and a trio of Blessed Ones.

A trio that was currently glaring daggers at me.

Sota and Troph, I understood. Fen, I did not. I hadn’t even known he was awake. But perhaps the other two had told him what I’d done to them.

Of course, my actions had been a result of Cane’s manipulations, something I knew they’d been informed of over the last thirty-four hours, but they clearly hadn’t forgiven me.

That was fine.
