I nodded my head at his glass. “I got you your own drink.”

He looked offended and raised it. “It’s sparkling apple cider.”

“Your point?”

“Why do you get champagne?” Alan protested.

“Because I’m an adult and I’ve had a long week,” I answered.

“Dad,” Alan whined.

“We agreed you’d get your first drink when you’re sixteen,” Felix answered.

“That’s in, like, two months.”

“And you can try champagne in two months,” Felix concluded, sipping his own glass.

Alan grumbled under his breath before taking a drink of the cider.

We’d decorated the Christmas tree earlier that day, which should have happened a week ago, but with everything that had been going on, better late than never, right? The rainbow lights glowed softly, their illumination bouncing off ornaments and painting the ceiling in fabulous stained-glass designs. We turned off the living room lights and watchedIt’s a Wonderful Lifewith drinks in hand.

At one point I looked away from the television and glanced out the window behind the tree to see snow falling in the darkness. Despite it being my first December away from New York City, there was something nostalgic about the scene. Something in it that promised my heart I would see it again and again, until I lost track of all the years the three of us had been together in this moment.

I tightened my arm around Felix’s shoulders, and he snuggled closer in response. I looked away from the snow and kissed Felix’s hair. I caught Alan looking at me, and he smiled. I reached across the couch and patted his head fondly.

I hadn’t been looking for a family.

It just sort of happened.

All because I fell for a kind man with a voice like amber.

I STRADDLEDFelix’s hips, rocking myself against him while holding his hands above his head. I kissed him thoroughly, tasting and exploring his mouth to my heart’s content, before I trailed my lips along his stubbly jaw and chin. I nudged his head back and bit his neck lightly. Felix moaned and arched his body, responding to every little bit of attention I gave.

I sat up, shoved the blankets aside, and let a rush of cold air hit our bodies. I moved down to settle between his legs, held the base of his erect cock, and gave the head a good lick. Felix grabbed my head with both hands and made a desperate sound in the back of his throat.

“Like that?” I purred.

“More,” Felix whispered.

I indulged him, swirling my tongue along the length of his cock in abstract shapes before taking it into my mouth.

Felix bucked his hips suddenly, gasping for air. “Oh God, Bo!” He sat up, propped on his elbows, watching me as I sucked on his entire length.

I took the opportunity to reach up and caress his hips before dragging my fingertips along Felix’s flanks. His left side reacted to the feathery-light touch, but I supposed he couldn’t feel it on his scarred skin. But it didn’t matter. He was letting me touch, and that’s all I wanted.

I wanted to make Felix feel good and desired.

Every single part of him.

I pulled off his cock with a wet pop. I sat and ran my hands up to grip his gorgeous pecs, digging my fingertips into heated skin and chest hair. Leaning over him again, I kissed Felix’s mouth. He put his hands over mine on his chest.

“I love your hairy chest,” I said.

He smiled wryly. “I love that yours isn’t.”

It took me near a week to grow whiskers on my face, so yeah, I was a pretty smooth-chested guy.

“You know what else I love?” I asked him.
