“I need … you towantthat.”

I chuckled, and it made Felix look up. “You’ve no idea how perfect we are for each other.”

Felix stared at me for a long, silent moment. His lips teetered on the verge of a smile, but he wasn’t quite there. “I don’t look like….”

“What people expect?” I finished.

He nodded again.

I moved my hands to Felix’s hips, holding him gently. “You’re singing my anthem.”

“I’m not an alpha male,” he continued, voice low. “I need a partner who treats me like an equal but who… respects I’m… passive.”

“I can definitely do that,” I murmured.

“Even though I look like I should be throwingyoudown?”

“Stereotypes.”

“They’ve made my life a living hell,” Felix said.

“Same.”

A smile finally graced his face.

“I’d be honored to forever make the moves on you,” I said. “I mean that.” I took the back of his head with one hand and guided Felix into a kiss. I ran my tongue against his lips, and he opened up, tasting of warm male and happy endings.

“Dad!” Alan called, voice drawing close to the kitchen.

I let go of Felix, and he took a deep breath, rubbing his bristly cheeks with his scarred hand.

“Yeah?” he asked when Alan appeared in the doorway.

“I’m starving.”

“Hi, Starving, I’m Dad.”

“Hi, Starving, I’m Bowen,” I responded, Felix and I speaking over each other.

Alan’s shoulders dropped, and he tilted his head back, groaning loudly. “Oh my God, I’ve got it in stereo!”

ON SUNDAYafternoon, I’d been pleasantly surprised to learn I was being invited over to Felix’s house once more.

By Alan.

I hadn’t wanted to come off as pushy by suggesting to Felix we see each other on Sunday too. He had a life and family and commitments, and I didn’t want to make it about me, me, me, so the unexpected request was nice. Especially since while we’d acknowledged the elephant in the room regarding relationship roles, I knew Felix hadn’t told me everything about his ex, and I’d have bet money there was something that needed to be shared for the sake of our budding romance.

I wasn’t sure if his scars had anything to do with Eric. I hoped not. The notion that there might have been a foul story behind them made my gut tighten uncomfortably. And even though they looked old, Felix was still so self-conscious…. I wanted to spend time with him, touch him, and show him how drop-dead gorgeous he was to me.

The only requirement of my visit was that I had to bring my computer and play a littleDragon Chaoswith Alan.

Felix was stretched out on the couch, half slouching and pressed against my shoulder as he flipped through some outdoorsy magazine.

Alan leaned over the armrest beside me, pointing at my laptop screen. “Okay, now you name your character.”

“Anything I want?”

“Yeah.”
