“Is that so? How do you know he loves her?” Ava asks and gives me a saucy wink.
Mom shakes her head. “My boy… He’s brought me two women to meet, but Ava’s the first one he’s looked at like the sun rises and falls with her. I hope she takes good care of him.”
“She sounds like a very lucky woman.” Ava turns toward me with a serious expression. “I’m going to take a guess and say she’s in love with him too.”
I stop breathing and meet Ava’s eyes. They’re filled with love… for me. I don’t deny what Mom says but rather lean forward and kiss Ava. I guess I was wrong because the look on her face tells me this moment is romantic.
In the end, I’m glad I brought Ava with me tonight. Seeing Mom when she’s like this is hard, and Ava’s strength helps me through the odd conversations. We reach the car, and I step into her, pressing her back against the door.
“Thank you,” I whisper and cup her face.
“For what, honey?”
“Seeing Mom like that…”
Ava hugs me tight when the words don’t come. “I can’t imagine what it’s like.”
“Did you mean it?”
We stare at each other a moment, and she nods. “Yes. I love you, Jason.”
“I love you too!”
We kiss desperately. I’m aching to be inside her. My need to show her with my hands and mouth how much she means to me is raw. Our tongues dance in celebration of our confession, one I’m sure would have taken longer to draw out if not for Mom.
“Take me home and make love to me,” Ava whispers against my lips.
I press my hips into her soft belly and groan. Then I step back, help her into the car, and jog around the hood. Once we’re headed toward her place, I clasp her hand and bring it to my lips.
“Where are we going?” Ava asks.
My brows furrow with confusion. “You asked to go home…”
“I meant your house. Home.”
It takes me a second to process her words. Tossing them around in my head, I change directions, and my heart fills. Ava considers my house to be home.
“This is where we started,” she says when I pull into the driveway.
I look at the house I’ve lived in for a large portion of my life. “No,” I mutter. “We met in the bar, sweetheart.”
“Yes, we met there, but this is where we became us. We connected here. You spun me into your web the night you brought me home and made love to me.”
I nod slowly. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. I knew right away there was something special about you. When I woke up and you were gone, I felt empty. It was strange since we’d only met and shared those few hours.”
“I’m sorry, honey.” Ava kisses my knuckles. “When I woke up disoriented at my surroundings, I freaked out. There you were, lying on your belly, peacefully sleeping with an arm around my waist, and I wanted to run—not from you but to you. I’ve never slept with a man on the first night, let alone right after meeting him.”
“Thank Christ you did. We were meant to be, Ava. No woman compares to you.”
Ignoring the need to kiss her, we hurry out of the car and meet halfway to the door. With a hand on her back, I guide her inside. I lift her into my arms, and she wraps her legs around me. Hands full of her soft ass, I knead the flesh through her pants and carry her to bed.
We make quick work of our clothes before I toss her in the middle of the mattress with a bounce. Her giggle makes me smile, and I crawl between her legs. My dick is tucked between our bodies and throbs, begging to return into her slick heat.
Brushing the hair off her face, I pepper her in kisses. She arches against me, her soft breasts flattening against my firm chest. “I love you so damn much!”
Ava flips me onto my back and straddles my hips. Her hair falls in a curtain around us, and I caress the skin of her thighs to her waist. She’s beautiful like this. Eyes bright with desire, breasts swaying above me, and a sweet smile parting her lips.
She leans forward and presses her mouth to mine. “I love you too,” she says, and before I can react, she takes me deep inside.
