Tanner closed his eyes and slowed his heart rate. Each beat slower than the last, until a sense of calmness washed over him. His jaw relaxed, unclenching as the stress left his body.

He summoned his majik once again to teleport himself and the others home.

“Fuck!” Tanner shouted when his majik was once again blocked.

“It’s got to be some sort of spell that’s blocking you,” Brenna said. “Try teleporting somewhere other than home and see if that works.”

“We don’t have time for this,” Rafe shouted.

Tanner let go of the others and flashed away. Seconds later, he returned a few feet from where he’d stood with Rafe, Bjorn, and Grace.

“She’s right. There’s got to be a spell on Bjorn. It’s blocking me from flashing him back to Black Paw.”

“What if you don’t try flashing him home. What if you try just outside of Black Paw?” Grace asked.

“Like a majikal loophole?” Tanner asked.

“Exactly!” Brenna said. “It should work.”

“I don’t know if he’ll be able to make the run back to Black Paw. I don’t know if he can even shift into his wolf form right now,” Rafe countered.

“I can take someone now to Black Paw. They can grab a vehicle and meet us just on the edge of town.” It was the only thing Tanner could think of that would ensure getting Bjorn as far away from the coven as quickly as possible.

Rafe nodded in agreement. But it didn’t mean he liked the plan one bit. It left too many variables. His wolf growled in his mind.

“It will leave us vulnerable—open to an attack from any direction,”his wolf warned.

“I don’t like it any more than you do, but what choice do we have. It’s not like we can sit around here trying to break the damn spell. There are layers upon layers of majik on my father. If we get him out of here, it will give us the time we need to break through that bitch’s spells.”

The wolf huffed in his mind. At least they were both in agreement—life sucked all around.

“It doesn’t sound like we have much of a choice here. This plan will have to do,” Rafe said. “Brenna, you go with him. Grab your mate and anyone else close by. We need to make sure we have enough protection on the way back in case we have to fight. Drive as fast as you possibly can to get to the rendezvous point. We’ll meet there.”

“I’ll be right back.” Tanner flashed away with Brenna.
