I will leave it up to fate. If I receive a response before my mating ceremony tomorrow, I will fight to win my girl back. If I don’t, that’s my answer, and I will let her go for good this time.
Chapter 6
Bullying The Bully
CONTESTANT #25
My PR guy stares at me as I read through the contract. I review it one more time, and without hesitation, I sign the bottom. I slide the papers across the table toward him.
He shakes his head and sighs as he leans forward to collect them. “You could do so much better,” he mumbles.
I narrow my eyes, daring him to continue.
He pinches his lips together. “All I’m saying is that this girl isn’t worth your reputation or your time. I know some models, or, if you want a good girl, I have some friends.”
I slam my palm on the table. “I don’t want anyone else! If you so much as sneer at her name again, I will ruin your career so fast, you’ll be living off the streets.”
He holds up his hands. “Alright, alright. My apologies for stepping out of line. I just think you deserve better, especially after all the shit you’ve been through.”
I look down at the wood grain of the conference room table that has been in my family for generations. “What I deserve is a chance to tell her the truth, a chance to start over, a real chance at what was supposed to be ours. No more secrets. No more lies.” I run a hand through my hair.
He rubs a spot on his forehead between his brows. “She will be the death of you.”
I meet his eye. “That’s a chance I’m willing to take. Now make it fucking happen. Get me in the lineup, or you will be out of a job.”
He grimaces. “Getting you in isn’t the problem. The problem is the Alpha Princess. I can get you in the door, but I can’t guarantee you’ll survive the first round of eliminations.”
I study him, his usual greasy slicked back hair has gone slightly astray and his meticulously pressed business suit has wrinkles. He’s traveled all over the Northern A and the LS, escorting Jessica as they promote the game. I should feel sorry that I forced him out here to meet with me, but I don’t.
“Just get me in. I’ll take care of the rest.” I motion for him to leave.
He shuffles the papers into a neat pile before placing them in his briefcase. “She must have one hell of a magic pussy.”
Rage rolls along my spine. I unleash my magic, wrapping it around his throat. I slam him to the ground before throwing him against the wall. I hold his body suspended in the air.
Slowly, I stalk toward him, my magic tightening around his throat. His eyes bulge slightly from his eye sockets, and his face turns a sickly shade of purple. “If I didn’t need you, you would be fucking dead right now.”
He croaks. I release my magic, and he crashes to the floor in a heap. Gasping for air, he crawls toward his briefcase. He slowly stands, and his trembling hand reaches for the doorknob.
Folding my arms across my chest, I glare at him. “Gary.” He turns his reddened face in my direction. “Consider this your last warning. One more degrading word out of your mouth—I don’t care if you’re talking to yourself, to anyone, or to her.”
He vehemently shakes his head. “You won’t. I will treat her with nothing but respect from here on out.”
I grind my teeth, not trusting his word. I don’t fucking trust anyone. I stare him down, looking for any clue that he’s placating me just to escape my ire. “You’re replaceable, Gary. Everyone is replaceable, except her.”
He nods. “I understand, sir.”
“Good. Now get the fuck out of my sight.” Without another word, he’s out the door.
I barely resume my seat at the conference table when heavy footsteps enter the room. “Hey. Was that Gary I just passed?”
I grunt at my cousin in response. He pulls out a chair and sits across from me.
“Okay. Was it not a good meeting?” He lifts his legs to rest on the table and tilts his chair back. I grimace. He smirks.
“It was fine. I just don’t understand why my parents keep him around.”
He shrugs. “He’s an ass, but he is good at his job. Trust me. I went through a few of them. Gary referred me to mine, and I have to say I’m impressed. He highly recommended her, so he knows what he’s doing.”
