Stars.I wiped my hand over my face unable to hide a smile. I’d finally been intimate with the one omega I’d longed to be with for most of my life. While I’d come embarrassingly early, he hadn’t laughed at me or left. I hoped I’d have a chance to make it up to him before the weekend ended.

Creeping to the door, I tried not to wake the gorgeous omega. I wanted him to get a lot of sleep now so we could do things properly tonight.

After pressing the button to open the door, I pushed my hand against the metal slab to keep it from sliding all the way. Especially since my brother was on the other side.

“What?”

Ret raised his eyebrows and gave me a wry smile. “That’s how you’re going to talk to the one who helped you get your long-time crush into your bed? You should be kissing my feet and thanking me.”

I glared at him. No way was I going to kiss his feet. Or any other part of his body. “Yes, your plan succeeded, but things still would have worked out between us.”

He rolled his eyes. “Yeah, maybe five star cycles from now. But thanks to me, you got to fuck him last night.”

I slid out into the hall, letting the door close behind me. Didn’t need Utahn hearing how vulgar my older brother could be. “I didn’t fuck him last night, and careful what you say around him.”

Tilting his head to the side, Ret narrowed his eyes. “The noises Utahn was making last night said otherwise.”

I shifted on the spot, grumbling under my breath. There was no way to prove my brother wrong without going into a detailed explanation of what happened. And I refused to do that. “What do you want anyway?”

“Ah.” Ret pointed a finger in the air. “Tours have been moved up. There’s a sandstorm supposed to pass through in the afternoon. If you want to let Utahn see your jet again—and not the one in your pants—you’ll have to do it this morning.”

I nodded. “Okay, thanks. I’ll see what he wants to do.”

“Probably you,” my brother said as he turned around and walked away.

I groaned. Why was he like this? Ret was never this bad when I came home with some random partner for the night.

With a sigh, I scanned my wrist over the sensor, and, once the door opened, went inside. Utahn looked ethereal sleeping there, with his hair splayed on my pillow and face glowing. Like some celestial being. How in the universe did I get lucky enough to have someone like him have feelings for me?

I contemplated waking him, but it wasn’t as if he hadn’t seen my jet before. Instead, I crawled into bed, wrapping my arms around Utahn and snuggling in close. We didn’t have anywhere we really needed to be until dinner.

“Would you two stop it already?”

I glanced up after kissing Utahn’s neck, meeting my brother’s annoyed glare. “What?”

He sneered at me. “It’s sickening seeing you two all lovey, especially when it took the two of you forever to finally get together. I’m used to this behavior from Qé and Xac, but, somehow, with you two, it’s worse.”

Utahn shifted in my lap. “Well, if you had selected a more interesting holo-movie, we wouldn’t have had to occupy ourselves with other things.”

Qé laughed from the couch across the room.

“Hey.” Ret pointed to Utahn. “You be quiet. If not for me hacking into the hotel’s reservation system, and spilling my drink on the couch, you two still wouldn’t be together.”

“Um, what?” I tilted my head to the side, very confused. “You and Utahn planned this?”

Utahn jumped around to face me. “I had nothing to do with that. I’m not complaining that it happened this way, but none of it was my doing.”

Ret chuckled and shook his head. “No, it was Vawn who gave me the idea. We were both sick of hearing you two whine about how much you like each other. But now I’m regretting that. Can you please separate your mouths from each other for a bit?”

“It’s been a bit already.” Utahn cupped my jaw before kissing me.

Divine.

With a groan, Ret stood up. “It’s time to head out for dinner soon anyway. The all clear from the sandstorm came during the movie, so I’m going to have a quick shower.” As he passed Ilam, he placed his hand on the rookie’s shoulder. “And I’m very thankful I’m not the only single one here. Ilam and I are going to be bachelors for life, never committing to anyone.”

Ilam’s face drained of color as he watched my brother walk away. And, as he passed me to head to his own room, a tear slipped down his cheek.
