“Does that mean we’re snowed in?”

“Yup.” I’m snowed in with the woman of my dreams, who’s completely out of bounds. It’s exquisite torture, and I don’t know how I’ll make it through the night without kissing Allie.

ALLIE

Hans insisted I take his bed while he sleeps on the couch. Every time I turn my head to get comfortable I upset the blankets, and the scent of pine and coffee beans wafts out of the bedsheets and accosts my senses, making me feel warm and giddy all at once.

We spent the evening playing games and laughing, and it was the most fun I’ve had in as long as I can remember. I’m relaxed around Hans. He makes me laugh, and he makes me feel good about being me.

I caught him looking at me a few times in a way that made my pulse quicken. There was one moment when I thought he was going to kiss me. My lips parted in anticipation, but he pulled away and the moment was gone.

But it’s his lips that I think about as I toss and turn in his bed. I still remember what they felt like the one time he kissed me two years ago.

I touch my lips, remembering the heat that coursed through my veins. As I remember, my core tightens and I slide a hand between my legs. I long for Hans to touch me, and I imagine it’s his hand rubbing my panties. It doesn’t take long for my climax to build, and I stifle my moan as I come in his bed, surrounded by this scent.

As my pussy pulses and my heartbeat settles, I feel nowhere near satisfied. I wonder if I’ll ever feel what it’s like to have his hands on me or if I’m destined to a life of longing.

The next morning I awake to the smell of bacon frying. The air in the cabin is chilly, and I find one of Hans’s hoodies to put on before I pad out to the kitchen.

Hans is humming as he cooks breakfast, and I lean on the doorframe to watch him. He’s loosened up since he found me in the snow. He’s almost the carefree ski instructor I met two years ago.

“Morning,” he says when he sees me. His gaze goes to the hoodie that I’m wearing, and he smiles. “Looks better on you than me.”

His gaze lingers on my breasts, making my cheeks heat, then moves up to mine and we lock eyes. His defenses are down this morning, and something passes between us. I sense that whatever he was angry about, he’s since softened on.

“It’s still snowing,” he says. “Looks like you’re stuck here for another day.”

His words make me smile. Then I check myself and look away. I shouldn’t be so excited by that. “I'd better let Dad know.”

Hans hands me his phone, and I make the call.

“You okay, Allie Cat?”

“I’m fine, Dad. Just having breakfast.”

“I can’t keep your mother off my back for much longer. She’s harassing me to know where you are.”

“Then I won’t tell you where I am. Just let her know that I’m safe, and I’ll be back to talk as soon as the snow clears.”

“At least she’s calmed down.”

“Dad, could you grab my phone? I want to check if Chloe has called.”

At the mention of my best friend, Dad goes silent. “Sure,” he says crisply. “I thought she’d be here for the wedding.”

“She had to stay for her grandmother’s funeral. Her mother needed the support, and then her flight got delayed in France.”

“Always putting others first,” Dad mutters, which is perceptive of him. I’ve known Chloe ever since we were on the hockey team together at school. Mom wanted me to try out for the cheerleading squad, but there was no way I was going to fit in with the tiny girls who cheer, not that I wanted to.

Mom has never approved of Chloe, although she’s always gotten along well with Dad.

“Can you see if there are any messages from her? I want to see if she’s landed.”

“You want me to go through your messages?” He sounds skeptical.

“Just give me Chloe’s number, and I’ll call her from this phone.”
