She grinned.
“So, what is this, Charlie? What are we doing?” I asked, hoping like hell she’d fess up and drop this stupid-ass plan of hers.
“We’re having fun, that’s all.”
My brow lifted. “Having fun?”
She nodded and her eyes looked pained. Even with her job title on the line, she still had a hard time admitting what was happening between us.
“Are you sure that’s it? Nothing more?”
Chewing on her lip, she asked, “Do you want something more?”
I leaned against my desk. “I think you’re the one who needs to answer that question.”
“Um … can we just go slow and see where this takes us? I mean, I, well, I have this probl
em.”
My heart started to hammer in my chest. Yes! Finally! She’s going to be honest with me.
“A problem?”
I’d never seen Charlie Monroe look so nervous in my entire life.
“Is it a problem I can help you with?”
She nodded. “I hope.”
Fucking finally. I didn’t really want to play this damn game.
“Then tell me what it is, and I’ll see what I can do.”
Her mouth opened and closed at least four times before she sighed and turned back to the mirror. She pulled out a tube of lipstick and smoothed it over her lips.
“I’m addicted to your cock and can’t seem to get enough of it.”
My stomach fell. I forced a smile when she turned back to face me.
“I know you feel the attraction too.”
All I could do was nod and ask, “So, what do we do about it?”
She was walking back over toward me, trying her best to act as seductive as she could. When she tripped on the area rug, I couldn’t help but laugh. Little did she know she didn’t have to try and seduce me. She did that simply by smiling at me. The more she tried, the more she made herself into a klutz.
“I guess we fuck like rabbits and as often as possible.”
“Are you trying to get me addicted to you?”
She winked. “That’s the plan.”
Thud. And there it went. Charlie Monroe wasn’t interested in me as anything other than a solution to the problem she faced.
“I have a date tonight.”
The words were out of my mouth before I even thought it through.
