“Shut up.” Reno flashed a smile at Conner. “He’d appreciate something less sweet, by the way. Not everyone is like me.”

“Ah, I just assumed if someone is in your company, they must love sugar.” Conner pointed at Reno, gesturing at his hair. “Want food?”

“Yeah," Reno was halfway through his order when Conner’s attention went over Reno’s shoulder, back to where Luka was sitting. He loosely pointed and Reno turned with a sinking feeling in his gut.

“I got this. Go rescue him," Conner said, and Reno rushed back to the table, nearly pushing Luka over when he dropped back into the booth.

“What are you doing here, Sage?”

“Can’t I say hello?” Sage pouted and Reno glared at her for a moment before she rolled her eyes. “Reno, won’t you introduce me to Luka?”

“How do you know my name?” Luka’s eyes were so big.

“This menace to society is Sage,” Reno said and reached across the table to grab his drink back from Sage before she could finish it.

“Oh, oh my god,Sage.Right.” Luka slumped against the back of the booth seat. “You’re theirfriend.”

“Yeah, obviously. Oh, wait.” Sage looked taken aback for a moment. “Oh, haha, wow. That probably was real freaky for you.”

Reno snapped, “You think? Girl, Idodeal with stalkers.”

“I know, shit. I’m sorry.” She did look apologetic and Reno let his attitude drop slightly. “Reno, please don’t glare at me like that. I didn’t mean to scare your?—”

“Mhm.” Reno watched as she crept his drink towards her again and drank from it. He let it happen and said, “You’re lucky Conner gives me free drinks.”

“Which is unfair," Sage replied, and Reno shook his head. “Well, I mean, I do benefit from getting to steal all your drinks.”

“I’m going to start drinking the darkest lagers on tap so that you stop.”

“No, you won’t,” Sage laughed. “Speaking of stalkers, though—hello, Luka.”

“Hi.” Luka did not sound as friendly as Reno had hoped he would. “I’m not a stalker. If anything, Reno is.”

“Oh, you’re fun.” Sage stirred Reno’s drink, her green eyes fixed on Luka. “You’re right, Reno here is a real creep. Did you know he?—”

“Don’t.” Reno reached out for his drink again and managed to get it back. “Why are you here? I’m on a date.” Reno tilted his head with a menacing smile. “You know it’s rude to barge in on us like that.”

“You left your man alone; I had to swoop.”

“Vulture.”

“He’s hot.”

“Can you all not talk about me like I’m not here?” Luka said and Reno’s gut dropped until he turned and caught Luka looking like he was about to laugh. “I’m not into women, my apologies.”

Sage looked thrilled. “I like this one. He’s tough. Hey, so I have a question for you.”

Conner appeared at the table. “Do I need to boot her?” He set down a new drink in front of Luka and another for Reno; he must have noticed Sage drinking all of Reno’s.

“Not yet,” Reno said and Sage tried kicking him under the table and missed. “If she lands the next kick, though…”

“So mean," Sage pouted, crossing her arms. Conner shook his head and left, hopefully to grab their food. “Anyway, my questions.”

“I thought it was one question," Luka said and took his new drink, making a pleased sound after he tried it.

“No, there are a few.” Sage pulled her phone out and tapped through a few things before clearing her throat. “What is Reno’s favorite color?”

“Um, pink?” Luka responded and Reno did not like the look on Sage’s face. She looked like trouble.
