“I’m not sure how to answer that.”

Zana laughed and sat back down on the couch before nudging Reno with his foot. “This one never is.”

“Now, that’s not true,” Reno said. “I’m extremely well behaved. Arnaud has me trained like a puppy. I can do so many tricks.”

Luka thought he might black out.

“You’re going to scare him off—then what’s the point of all this?” Zana nudged Reno with his foot again and Reno protested, looking mildly rueful. “I’ll have you know," —Zana turned his lean body to Luka to grab his attention— “he’s been unbearable.”

“What do you mean?” Luka asked.

“He’s always on his phone now. Even when we’re practicing.”

“Hey!” Reno scowled at Zana, who ignored him. “I amnot.”

“Always texting people," Zana sighed, “Are we not enough for you, mon ange? Has your heart strayed so far?”

Luka couldn’t help it. “Are you two…”

“Non,” Zana laughed. “I just love giving him grief. I have a fiancée back home. She doesn’t mind if I kiss boys, though.”

“Oh." Luka took a drink of his water then asked, “So it’s like, a poly or open situation?”

“Yeah, open, since we’re long distance.”

“Sounds difficult,” Luka said, but Zana shrugged his shoulders.

“I adore her; it works out. We always have fun when I’m home. What about you, Luka?”

Reno perked up at that and Luka shook his head, saying, “No, nothing like that. I haven’t seen anyone seriously in over a year now.”

Zana hummed, looking like he’d accomplished his mission, satisfied as he pulled his phone out and checked it.

“We’re gonna roll out for food. Hearts is joining later. You gonna come?”

Reno stared right at Luka as he said, “No.”

“Alright then.” Zana stood then bent down to kiss both of Reno’s cheeks. “Later. Enchanté, Luka. Sois gentil avec lui.Nice to meet you, Luka. Be nice to him.”

Reno followed Zana to the door, where they paused to mumble something to each other in Japanese before Zana left, closing the door after him. Reno flipped the lock and turned around to lean on the door, hands behind him as he looked at Luka.

Luka watched Reno’s chest expand, watched the way his eyes tracked down Luka’s body, and then Reno said, “I’m sorry, my heart is just beating really fast.”

Luka leaned back into the couch, not sure what to say. Hearts n Hell’s set overhead pounded through the floor and when Reno walked over to him it felt like slow motion. The greenroom lights haloed his blush-pink hair when he stood over Luka, makinghim look larger than life before he sank down, hands on Luka’s shoulders and knees on either side of his lap.

“Do you want me to clean up?” Reno leaned back until his ass pressed against Luka’s knees and he was so hot it took a few beats for Luka to respond.

“Clean up?” he asked. It was all he could manage.

Reno pointed at his face, his makeup still heavy from the show, contacts still in, and his hairline damp with sweat. His eyeliner was smudged. Luka’s eyes flicked to Reno’s lips, at the gloss there, and he shook his head.

Reno smiled, sweet like honey, and ran a hand up Luka’s neck and into his hair. He leaned down, crowding over Luka and pressed his lips to his temple and asked, “Do you want this?”

Luka nodded and Reno made a pleased sound.

“You have to say it.”

“Yeah,” Luka managed, his hands finally lifting to hold onto Reno’s waist. His heart was in his throat, his body already thrumming with need and anticipation. The weight of Reno in his lap was surreal and his thumb hooked under one of the straps on Reno’s outfit to tug at the fabric, pulling Reno an inch closer. “Yeah, I do.”
