Everest and Genevieve are practically kissing over the table, getting in everyone’s way. I just can’t tell if anyone else notices her looking at me or not.

I sure as hell notice.

Our eyes are locked; hers are full of rage, mine are full of fury. The audacity of my fucking brother. He took what’s supposed to bemine.

I’m possessive of her. I have been from the moment I saw her.

All I want to do is rip her off my brother and punch him in the face, then kiss that last kiss off of her.

This way, I can show her who’s in charge.

The kiss ends and Everest doesn’t sit back down. No, he stands next to what’s mine, like a dog marking its territory. His arm goes around her, but it’s wrong, doesn’t look right. It’s not where I belong. I should be the one beside her, my arm around her waist. I bet she smells like vanilla, fresh and sweet.

I pull out another block and everyone looks at me like I’m the devil for doing such a thing.

“Hey it’s not your turn, silly,” one of the girls says to me. She’s drunk already, I can tell. She opens another beer anyway. I ignore her.

I turn over the wooden block and read what it says. It says, “Chicks drink” but I don’t care. I say aloud, “kiss someone.”

Genevieve freezes, eyes glued to mine, waiting for who I’ll choose, especially since I didn’t choose her last time. But that’s only because I didn’t want our first kiss to be forced and in front of everyone. She probably thinks I won’t pick her again, but right now, I don’t care about that shit. I just want her lips on mine and to never touch my brother’s again. So I walk right up to her, grab my brother’s wrist, yank his arm off of her, and kiss her like she’s mine.

At first I was so worked up just trying to kiss her, but now that I am, I can’t believe it. I’m actually kissing her. Her lips are luscious like silk, and plump like pillows.

Her mouth on mine feels amazing, like our lips were always supposed to be touching. She tastes like tequila and beer, a new combo for me, but I’ll take it. If it’s her, I’ll take anything. I pull away and admire her features.

Her cupid’s bow makes her lips shaped like a perfect heart. It almost looks like she got lip filler done. Maybe she did, maybe she didn’t. I take it she’s the type of girl who is just this beautiful naturally.

And her eyes. They’re like fresh dewy grass, glistening in the light. It’s like Monet’s water lilies. Their beauty is unreal. She’s unreal.

The only way I know this is real is because of the kiss. If that kiss was fake, then I’m drugged and in a deep sleep. If that’s the case, I hope I never wake up.

“Really bro, you just had to take my girl?” Everest asks like the dumb fuck he is. The audacity. He knows she’s mine. I’m about to say something about it, but Genevieve beats me to the punch.

“Excuse me, I’m no one’s girl. You guys are just here for fun,” she says, though it’s slurred.

Good for her. Except, she just made me more attracted to her by saying that. She may not think she’s mine now, but I’ll show her. Because, she is in fact, already mine.

Everest laughs.

I lean into his ear and whisper, “Bro, please lay off. I met her yesterday and I think this could go somewhere.”

Everest is a piece of shit, but he’s a good brother. If I tell him how I really feel, he’ll back off.

“Okay,” he says, holding up his arms in the shape of a field goal to surrender.

I know I’m gonna owe him for this, but I don’t care. She’s worth it.

Everest slumps into his seat and I turn my body back to Genevieve.

“So Genevieve, do you think I can get to know you some more?” I ask her.

She blushes, “Sure, let’s move over to the couch,” she says it in a whisper, so no one else can hear us.

She grabs my hand and when she does, my body goes numb. My hand grabs hers back and I let her lead me to the couch. The alcohol is giving me a bit of confidence, I’m not gonna lie. Otherwise, I’d be shaking in my boots.

We take a seat on the brown leather couch, grabbing our beers as we go. I don’t want this to be awkward, so I start the conversation.

“So, you’re the girl who got in my way,” I say sarcastically.
