“Good girl.”
“We came here to talk to Jordyn,” Alex called out to them. “You can’t bully us into leaving.”
Steve felt a strike of anger come alive in him like a wildfire. “Bullying?” He bit out, and clenched his jaw. “You are going to talk about bullying right now when you’re at her house bothering her?”
“Shit,” Jordyn whispered, seeing the dark look in his eyes. She looked to Alex and his friends. “You should all leave. Now. Like right now.”
“Or what?” Floppy hair tossed at them, and Steve shot them a cruel grin.
“So glad you asked,” Steve growled, taking a step forward.
“I’m not kidding. Get out of here. All of you,” Jordyn tried again, wringing the coat that was in her hands. The trio suddenly looked less sure of themselves at the worried look on Jordyn's face.
“We just came to talk, Jordyn,” Alex said, holding out his hands in a calming manner, but Steve didn’t give a shit about it. He wanted to get his point across, and he was willing to do it with his fists. That was the only language guys like this understood.
“Really? All three of you came to talk to her?” Steve countered, walking forward, nearly closing the distance between them, his eyes sliding between the three of them.
“They care about Jordyn, too,” Alex said.
“She has nothing to do with you anymore,” Steve said, and when Alex looked beyond Steve to Jordyn, he snapped his fingers in Alex’s face. “Hey, don’t look at her. You look at me. You wanna talk, you talk with me.”
“I didn’t come here to waste my time with you,” Alex told him, but he flinched at the snap of Steve’s fingers.
He shot Alex a grim smile. “Too bad. Remember what I told you about coming back here? This is stalking, you idiot. Do you realize that? Do you understand that this is not ok?” Steve asked with a jab of his finger, and before Alex could reply, Steve reached forward and grabbed Alex by his shirt collar, hauling him forward with a jerk.
“Get off me!” Alex barked, but Steve tightened his grip, twisting it up between his hands until Alex’s button-up pressed painfully against his throat.
“Not a chance. Not until you understand that she's done with you.” He gave the little shit a shake.
Floppy hair made a grab for him, but Steve slammed Alex into the other man causing Alex’s head to smash into Floppy’s nose. The leering blonde took a wild swing at Steve, but Steve blocked it, again using Alex, and landed a headbutt before the blonde recovered from his missed swing.
“I warned you,” Jordyn sighed, watching the men all descend into a whirlwind of fists. Or really, watched Steve descend into a whirlwind of fists. The other three were just absorbed into the mayhem that Steve seemed so at home in. The blonde sank to his knees with a moan of pain near Jordyn’s feet which prompted her to take a hasty step back with a frown.
Steve was too busy with Alex and he only gave a nod of his head in acknowledgement when Jordyn called out to him. “Steve, let him go, please,” she said with a gesture to Alex’s reddening face.
“Only because you asked,” Steve grunted, but before he let him go completely, he slammed a fist into Alex’s stomach, effectively knocking the air from the other man. Alex clutched his stomach as he gasped to breathe and wobbled on his feet before he landed next to the man on the ground. Floppy stood a few feet away from his two friends, regarding Steve warily.
“Just go home, Eric,” Jordyn said, coming forward. When she was close enough, she reached out to take Steve’s hand and tugged him back a step towards her.
“Are you seriously with this guy now, Jordyn?” Eric asked her, looking at her like he didn’t know her.
“I thought I made that obvious when, oh, I don’t know, I left on the back of his bike thelast timeyou showed up here with Alex,” Jordyn huffed.
Steve crossed his arms and looked at Eric, who held his hands up defensively. “Hey, I don’t have any problems, okay?” he said, backing up a few steps to where Alex unsteadily got to his feet, still gasping for breath.
“Open the door, Jordyn.” Steve pointed a finger at the men. “Back up and give her room,” he ordered with a glare. The two standing men bent and helped their friend up before they all shuffled off to the side, their guard clearly up and watching him. When it looked like Alex might talk to Jordyn, Steve stepped between them with a shake of his head.
“Get away from her, and do it fast,” Steve said, keeping a watchful eye on the trio while Jordyn unlocked the door. Steve ushered her forward, and with a gentle touch, said, “Go on in. Don’t look back at him.”
Jordyn smiled up at him and walked inside the apartment, but Steve didn’t move to follow her. Instead, he turned and with a hand on the door, he looked back at Alex.
“Hey,” he said, locking eyes with the other man. Alex didn’t say anything and made a show of looking away from Steve while he pulled his shirt collar back to its proper place. After a moment of silence, Steve sighed. “Remember what I said about me coming by for a visit?”
Alex’s mouth opened slightly as if to answer, and Steve cut him off before he could. “Expect to see me.”
Steve then turned and followed Jordyn into the apartment, locking the door behind him, and the sound of the lock sliding home was music to his ears. He could deal with a lot less bullshit like that and a lot more time with his girl. When he walked into the living room, Jordyn was leaning against the couch with a worried look on her face.
“You aren’t really going to Alex’s, are you?”
