I had finally made my decision when a shadow loomed behind me. “Lost?”

I swallowed and turned my head slightly at Luca’s voice. He looked fucking sexy as hell in nothing but black jeans. He was barefoot, so maybe running outside was a good idea. But then I saw Wes standing through the screen door, his hands casually shoved in his pockets and a deadly smile on his face.

My heart pounded even as my dick started to chub. Wes didn’t always play these kinds of games with us, but when he did, fuck yeah. The man was scary as hell.

They were trying to lure me to where they wanted me. Which . . . hell, maybe it was upstairs after all.

“Hi, Sir. Good day?” I asked Luca, taking a step back.

“Not bad. The morning was boring with paperwork, but the afternoon is shaping up to be exciting.”

There was something about his cool tone that went straight to my dick every damn time. I adjusted my sweats and pulled on my collar. “Really? It seems kind of lame to me.”

Luca’s eyebrow went up.

He took a step forward. I took one more back. And yep, now I could see clearly into the hallway at Maverick standing in the shadows. I was blocked. They were herding me upstairs.

“Well, it’s been fun chatting, but I think it’s time for me to go.”

I feinted like I was running toward the stairs, and just as Luca started to pursue, I took a sharp right and darted for the hallway. Maverick’s fingers wrapped around my wrist, but one of the first things he’d taught me was how to get out of that hold. My hand fell free, and I was fucking sprinting.

Skye was still nowhere in sight, which scared me. He was the wild card.

“Come here, brat!” Maverick’s deep timber rumbled from down the hallway. “Running will only make it worse.”

“Only if you can catch me!”

There was a curse, but I was on my way again. I turned the corner with a plan to go through the game room to the side door that would lead outside.

Maverick was behind me, and so was Luca. Wes had probably left his spot, but did he go around the house to the front door, hoping I’d make my way there, or was he preparing to lie in wait somewhere else?

My hand touched the door handle. It was locked.

We didn’t have normal locks here. Everything was controlled through a security panel, one that Diego had master control over.

“D!” I yelled out, knowing he could hear me. “You too? Fucking cold.”

I swore I could hear my brother laughing.

Footsteps got louder. “There’s nowhere to run, slut! You might as well give up now,” Maverick called as he came into view.

“There’s no reason to make this harder on yourself, boy,” Luca reasoned.

“Pretty sure you’re only saying that because you don’t wanna run anymore, old man. Does your back hurt? You got a cramp?”

Luca didn’t take the bait. Not that I expected him to. “Very funny. Just keep racking up a debt your ass can’t pay.”

I wiggled said ass. “Oh, I think it can take it.”

I turned on a dime and took off down the hallway again. I had speed to my advantage. Despite my taunting, I knew my men were in amazing shape. They could easily kick my ass. But, they were both bigger guys. And older, even if they didn’t want to admit it. In a race, I could take them.

I made it halfway when Skye stepped out of one of the rooms, shirtless, sexy, and with cuffs in his hand. Fuckety fuck.

I didn’t need to turn around to know Luca and Maverick were closing the distance behind me. Paired with the fact that Wes was MIA and Diego was fucking with the locks and I knew running was now out. It was time to fight.

I stood no chance, but that wasn’t the point. I would have to give as hard as I got.

“You and Diego are on their side? I feel betrayed.”
