I looked at Ash. “What about you? I want to hear everything that happened between you and Duncan. Start at the beginning.”
“I’ll tell you stuff,” Ash said with a grin. “But I want a real drink while I do it.”
Flynn’s fingers slid along my belly as he shifted closer. Night had fallen and moonlight peeked through the curtains, allowing me to see in the dark. We were in bed and I was content having him next to me.
I ran a hand down his cheek, my thumb lingering on his lips.
“Did I wake you?” he asked.
“No, I was awake.”
Flynn patted his chest and I moved into his arms, resting my head against his heart. I breathed in and sighed.
“You all right?”
“I am,” I said. “Just thinking.”
“About?”
“Are we still going to London in a few months? To open your new hotel?”
Flynn’s hand stroked my hair, his fingers weaving in and out of the strands. “Yes.”
“Why haven’t you opened a hotel in London yet? It’s one of the major cities of the world.”
“Truth time?”
“Always.”
“For a while, Malcolm hated the idea of having anything to do with the English. But then I pointed out that we could make money from them and use it to aid our cause.”
“So in essence, funnel English money into freeing Scotland.”
“Exactly.”
I frowned. “How did Malcolm become the leader of the SINS?”
“His father. It’s passed down, father to son.”
“What happens if you don’t agree with him and his edicts?”
“Me? Or the faction?”
“The faction. Are there coups?”
“There have been in the past. Why do you ask?”
“Just curious about how it all works. If there was a coup against Malcolm, would Duncan still take over?”
“Doubt it. Unless he planned the coup. Luckily, we don’t have to think about it. Everyone is happy with Malcolm’s leadership, and the SINS is growing, and we have a real chance at our goal.”
“That’s good.”
“Very good,” he agreed. “We bought an apartment, we’re fixing up the nursery, we’re happy, Barrett. We’re so happy.”
I breathed in a sigh of contentment, my eyes closing.
“Everything is perfect,” I said.
For now.
