“What’s up, boo?” she chirped energetically before turning back to pull the fridge open. “You hungry?”

She tossed bags of animal blood in front of me before I could even answer, and I blinked at her. How was she so relaxed when I just raced into the kitchen like a demon, yelling her name?

Taking a moment to observe her, I noticed a seemingly permanent smile on her mouth and a faint blush to her cheeks.Wait a second.

My mouth popped open as I recognized the glow of sex. “Lo! Did you hook up with someone last night?”

Her blush deepened, and she actually looked bashful for a second. “Maybe,” she cooed before turning to start the coffee maker.

Oh, she wasn’t getting off that easily. “Girl, spill!” I demanded as she scooped the grounds in.

“Yeah, Lo,” Drake taunted in a weird tone as I felt his presence at my back suddenly. “Spill.”

His arms wrapped around my waist, and I leaned back into his chest on instinct just as she spun back around to face us, this time with narrowed eyes and a warning in those irises.

She held a long spoon out like a knife, jabbing in the air as she responded. “Drake, do not get any ideas. I swear you are the worst cock block of my life, and if I have to live here and occasionally hear the two of you having the time of your life fucking, I’m going to have a fuck buddy of my own, okay?”

A growl spread through his chest before he dropped his chin to rest on top of my head. “I wouldn’t have to cock block if you’d stop choosing the worst possible men to invite into your life,” he rumbled.

I smirked at their familial banter. It was so adorable.

What did I say about calling me adorable, Comoara?

My smirk deepened as his voice in my mind.

Lo’s fingers flew to pinch the bridge of her nose as she closed her eyes and whispered, “Fates, give me the strength.” Her eyes popped back open as she cocked her head to the side and placed a hand on her hip and motioned with her hand in a sassy manner. “You don’t think any man is good enough!”

Drake scoffed, “Well, that really sounds like a personal problem now doesn’t it, Lo? Choose better men, and we couldn’t be in this predicament!”

They both exchanged low growls, but the coffee maker beeped, signaling it had finished its brewing cycle. It popped the tension between them, and Lo turned to pour three cups, adding the proper cream and sugar to each of ours as she mumbled, “Why can’t a girl get laid around here in peace?”

Don’t be so hard on her.

She deserves better.

His voice was matter of fact, like this conversation was not up for discussion. I lightly smacked his hand that hung around my waist.

That isn’t up for you to decide. She might choose wrong at first, but she’ll learn from each one. It’s her life to live, Drake. You saved her once, but you can’t save her from everything.

I felt the guilt pouring through him.

She’s my responsibility.

She’s her own woman. All we can do is support her and love her through any decision she makes.

“What did you need when you came in, Alina?” she questioned, pulling us from our chat after placing the cups in front of us/

I let out a sigh as I shook my head, stunned by how quickly I’d forgotten. My attention span was severely lacking today.

Breaking out of Drake’s grip, I rushed to her, turning around and pulling my hair to the side. “Tell me what my mate mark looks like.”

“Uh, it has three black dots and a line through it. Why?”

Holy shit. We had aConiunctabond.

My mouth dropped open as I stared at Drake’s shit eatingI told you sogrin.
