“Fuck,” he groaned in my ear. He rested his forehead against the side of my head, and I felt a slight tremble spread through him. “You taste as good as you smell.”
He withdrew his hand from mine and moved it to his crotch, rubbing the length of himself slowly. He froze mid-stroke and quickly removed his hand, moving back to his side of the car as if realizing he was not alone. He started the car again and got back onto the road.
I remained still as I watched him silently drive. My chest rose and fell rapidly, and saying I was turned on right now would be a serious understatement. I was horny as hell.
I had problems.
He turned those jewel eyes toward me, and they now glowed under the growing darkness of the sky. “You are not fae.”
Well, shit.
CHAPTER21
LILA
Either my glamour was wearing thin, or no one had expected me to be licked. Still, the guy didn’t look particularly upset. Perhaps, he didn’t suspect I was human. There were more things out there besides fae and humans, after all. I had to play it cool. If he thought I was human, he’d have just said it. Unseelie might not hate other beings. But what could I pretend to be? Maybe when my powers came back, I could pretend to be a shifter. I was a little rusty on the changing spell, but I remembered it from school and using it in the military.
“Fine, I’m a shifter,” I sighed, giving my best put-upon look.
He glanced over at me again, and the gold in his eyes expanded, the pupils narrowing into reptilian slits. The hell? “You are a dragon, like me.”
No, the fuck I was not. I could do a shifter spell but only to the point of looking humanoid. Dragons were not that. And hold up, he said like him. Was this guy some type of dragon fae like Xander was a sort of vampire fae? And double hold up again, why did he say it as a statement and not a question? Like he was sure of it.
I blinked rapidly, trying to think of my best response. It would be easy to agree. He seemed to like that idea. Hell, it was turning him on. Still, I wouldn’t actually be able to change, and then he might slaughter me. Maybe if I feigned ignorance, that might make me look sympathetic.
I shrugged. “Honestly, I don’t know. I wasn’t with my parents long. I grew up in an orphanage.” Truth. Made things easy. “My mother had magic, but she was…sick. My father wasn’t around.”
He nodded. Seeming to buy my words. Actually, it wasn’t a lie so this could work. “So, you don’t know your lineage.”
“Well, I have ice magic. I thought dragons breathed fire.”
He made a left turn down another ominous road. I could see he was still worked up. The perv in me glanced down at his slacks, and he was still rock hard. Geez, he really liked whatever vibe I was giving out. “Fire dragons like me do. But there are also ice dragons. Wind and water dragons too.”
Huh, did not know that. Of course, dragons didn’t really run around in the human realm. I’d only heard tales of them. There were very few sightings. Mostly, they were in the fae realm. So, I wasn’t as shocked when he admitted that he was a dragon. Hell, it was exciting to actually encounter one in real life and talk to him. I wondered what he looked like in his dragon form. He was huge now, but I had no doubt he’d be as big as a house in his form. He could probably burn this whole town down. That was another reason no one messed with him.
Still, I wasn’t sure I could get away with pretending to be an ice dragon. “Why are you so sure that’s what I am?”
He inhaled again and then flicked his tongue out. And ladies and gentlemen, it was not short. It was inhumanly long, and my mind immediately went to all the places he could lick on me with that tongue. Yup, there went my clit buzzing again. Adds long tongue to list of turn-ons.
“You smell like my kind. Not as much.”
Wait a minute. Could I actually be part ice dragon? No, that couldn’t be true. I clearly had mage magic. Not everyone had the power to cast spells. Especially high-level ones. I could. I needed to get home and take a DNA test. Speaking of home. “Maybe you could send me back to the human realm, and I can do some digging into my background?”
His shoulders dropped. “No.”
I poked out my bottom lip. I knew he’d say that. “No, not right now? No, you don’t want to? Or no, it’s impossible.”
“Not possible. We don’t currently have access to the portals.”
Of course. “So, how far is Prinath?”
“Six hours by car.”
“How far until we get to your place?”
“We are almost there.”
I tapped my head against the side of the window. This guy sure loved to talk. “What are you going to do with me when we get there?”
