It’s still early in the day when we end our session, so I gather up my beach supplies and head back out to the sand, the sun, and the clear ocean air.

Can all of our issues with relationships really be traced back to our relationships with our parents? The answer is probably yes.
—Lana Parker, “Parents Just Don’t Understand”
Lana:Hi, guys.
Corey:She’s alive!!!!
Lana:Haha.
Lana:Sorry I disappeared, I just needed some time to get my head together.
Tessa:That’s okay! We understand.
May:Now would you like to fill us in on what sent you running for the hills? Or the beach, as it were?
Lana:... I slept with Seth.
Corey:HO-LY
May:Shit.
May:You actually did it.
Tessa:Are you okay?
Lana:No?
Lana:I don’t know?
Corey:How was it?
Tessa:C, there are bigger problems right now.
Corey:If it was crap, then in the long run, it doesn’t really matter that they slept together.
Lana:It was not crap...
Lana:It was amazing.
May:Of course it was.
Corey:So then why are you now in San Clemente all by your lonesome?
Lana:Because it meant something different to him than it did to me.
May:Did it?
Lana:He thought it meant we were getting back together.
Tessa:And why aren’t you?
Lana:You mean besides the fact that we’re currently embroiled in a competition for the one job I’ve wanted my entire adult life? A major part of which is that I have to stay single?
Lana:Not to mention he’s already broken my heart before. Why should I think he won’t do it again?
