He shifts me to the side so he can reach for his jacket, pulling his phone from the inner pocket and handing it to me.

“Passcode?”

“031723.”

I smirk as I punch in the numbers. “Wait, your passcode is the first day we hooked up?”

“Yup.” He says it with a wide grin and zero shame.

I find Sam’s number in his contacts and send him an SOS. “We should probably get up now.”

Grayson grasps my waist and lifts me to my feet, hopping up next to me. I straighten my dress and he buttons his pants, and a minute later there’s a knock on the door.

I open it just wide enough to pull Sam inside.

He looks between the two of us and sighs heavily. “You couldn’t have waited until after the party?”

“Sorry.” I flash him a sheepish smile.

“No, you’re not.”

“You’re right, I’m not.”

Sam gives us a weary look again, opening his emergency kit. “You’re lucky I’m always prepared.” He hands Grayson a makeup remover wipe. “Take that to your whole face.”

Grayson winks at me, stepping to the side and wiping the remains of my makeup from his skin.

Sam gets to work on my face and five minutes later steps back and gives me a once-over. “Sadly, I don’t think this hair can be salvaged, so have fun explaining that to Amanda. Turn around.”

I do, groaning in relief as the mass of bobby pins are pulled from my hair.

Sam works his fingers through the curls before spinning me back around. “That will have to do.”

“Is it obvious?”

“That you just got lucky in a supply closet? Yes.” Hegives Grayson a nod of approval. “Fortunately, the just-fucked-and-madly-in-love look works for both of you.”

My eyes meet Grayson’s, and we share a wide grin.

Sam fake retches. “Gross.” He heads for the door. “You should probably get your asses back in there. The movie’s almost over.”

We speed walk back to the theater, Sam making his way to his original seat while Grayson and I find two empty spots next to each other in the back row. We sink into the plush red chairs, and his hand automatically finds mine, our fingers lacing together.

We share another smile as Isobel and Josh reunite on-screen. My head falls to his shoulder, and his lips brush my forehead.

And we all live happily ever after.

Epilogue

I take a cup of hot chocolate, wrapping my hands around the festive red cardboard and letting the heat seep into my chilled fingers. “Was it always this cold here?”

Grayson accepts his own cup before sticking a large wad of cash in the tip jar on the counter. “You just didn’t notice because we spent most of our time naked in bed.”

“Hmmm, and why are we not currently doing that?” I sip from my cup, walking slowly toward the front door of the café, wanting to delay entry into the frigid afternoon air for as long as possible.

He pushes open the door, guiding me outside. “Someone I know made a big stink about wanting to explore the Pine Springs holiday festival.”

“I think I’d rather explore your holiday festival.” I tuck myself into his side, burrowing into his warmth.
