Her eyes cut away from me, and she blushed before tossing her hair over her shoulder.
“Where are the condoms?” She was helping me out of my dress shirt.
"They're in the nightstand drawer, but I'm gonna need a minute or two."
Lisa laughed before she curled up in my lap, and I wrapped my arms around her.
We hearda soft cry from the baby monitor.
Nonononononononono. Bad timing, buddy.
Lisa sat up.
“Hey.” I eased her back onto my chest. “Let’s see if he puts himself back to sleep.”
“He had a late nap and slept for a really long time,” she said while stroking my cheek.
“Maybe he’s crying in his sleep?” I shrugged.
She pulled the baby monitor off of the nearby dresser. CJ was sitting up in his crib wide awake and wailing with tears rolling down his cheeks.
“You don’t start until tomorrow. I’ll go.” I kissed her shoulder and tried to stand.
"It'll be faster if I go. Then, I'll come right back here." She planted a kiss on my nose. Her logic was sound, so I didn't argue. She rose from my lap. My hand traveled down her arm, lightly clasped her wrist, and my fingers slid through her palms until our fingertips separated, desperate for every moment of contact. She grinned at me, shrugged into my discarded dress shirt, buttoned the two remaining buttons, and left the room.
I sank back into the chair, trying to catch my breath. I tucked my dick into my boxers before I stood and kicked my pants the rest of the way off. Lisa came into the view of the nursery's camera. CJ's crying intensified as soon as he caught sight of her. He crawled to the edge of his crib, pulled himself to standing, and reached for her. She grabbed a baby wipe from the dresser, wiped her hands and mouth before sweeping him into her arms, kissing him while swiveling her body from side to side. He calmed immediately when Lisa began singing to him. Something about the melody made my heart clench. It felt familiar, but I didn't recognize it, and I couldn't make out the words. My heart was still racing when I reached the far end of the hall and peeked into CJ's room. Lisa had her back turned to me, still rocking and dancing as she sang. She was swimming in my dress shirt, but it was the sexiest thing I'd ever seen her wear.
Now that I was closer, the tune was familiar as my own name. Lisa was singing “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” one of my mother’s favorite Crystal Gayle songs.
She turned to see me watching from the doorway and smiled and motioned me inside. “Dance with us.”
I wrapped my arms around the two of them and swayed. Lisa finished her song and started singing “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” CJ tucked his body into the space where Lisa’s joined mine.
I'd made a terrible mistake. No matter what happened tonight after we put CJ back to bed, I could never be okay with keeping my relationship with Lisa professional. I thought back to the night we met. It was over two months ago, and it felt like a lifetime. A part of me wished she would've beaten the shit out of me with her bat that night because it wouldn't have hurt as much as knowing I would have to see her every day and know I couldn't be with her when I was completely in love with her.

I lowereda sleeping CJ into his crib and turned to face Cole.
He looked at me in a way I couldn’t place. It wasn’t the lust that had been there when we’d been interrupted, but something like adoration.
“What?” I asked, tossing my hair over my shoulder and smoothing his dress shirt over my hips.
“You’re amazing,” he whispered.
"Well, I'd like to think it was a team effort." I laughed and took a step closer. "Should we go back to your room?"
“Fuck yeah, we should,” he whispered before leaning down to kiss me.
I squealed when Cole tossed me over his shoulder and ran towards his room.
"Shhh." He gave my ass a little smack. "We're not going back into that nursery until tomorrow."
He tossed me on the bed and crawled on top of me. His lips inches from my own. "I don't plan on rushing this time." He kissed my lips, then my nose and my cheeks. I reached up to wrap my arms around his neck, and he caught my wrists and pinned them to the bed.
“Uh-uh, neighbor,” he whispered, “no touching. Don’t make me call security.”
