“I have a nursery,” Nicky said with a shy grin.

“Hey.” Law cupped his face to force Nicky’s eyes back up. “Why are you suddenly shy?”

“It’s a very nice nursery,” Nicky said softly. “I spent years getting it perfect.”

“Why would that be a concern?”

“Most Daddies want to decorate or put together the nursery themselves,” Nicky said.

“I might understand that if their boy didn’t already have a special space,” Law said. He knew that his next words would be important. “I think it’s very smart of you to have built yourself a safe space.”

Nicky pressed his lips together.

“What else?” They needed to get all of Nicky’s insecurities out of the way.

“I have money,” Nicky said. He lifted his chin as if in a challenge. “I make a good living. I won’t give up my job.”

Law waved his hand around. “I’ve been in your house all day. Admittedly I was a little taken back by the size of your house and I haven’t seen the upstairs, but it’s quite obvious that you have money.”

“And I won’t quit my job to be your full-time boy,” Nicky said again.

“I hope to retire someday in the future. I’d love to travel with my boy. See more of the world when I’m not running for my life. I just opened the second location of my business so it will be some time before I could do that. When time came, it’s something I would like to revisit.”

“That sounds nice,” Nicky said. “And I’ll eventually retire when I want. I just won’t be a kept boy while you work.”

“This is something that was asked before? By a partner?”

“More than one,” Nicky replied. “My money and job are always an issue.”

“I already said I didn’t care about your money,” Law told him. “However, the only issue I would have with your job is what happened recently where you were so obviously miserable and gave up your holiday. I’m certain that there were other options. That’s something that I would like to discuss in the future so that your obligations are still fulfilled while your personal life doesn’t suffer. I would want that with any partner.”

Nicky narrowed his eyes. “You wouldn’t demand that I stay at home like a good little boy?”

“I wouldn’t demand you stay at home,” Law agreed. He grinned. “And I like a bit of a brat. So I wouldn’t want you to be too good for me.”

Nicky laughed.

“I want a partner, Nicky,” Law said clearly. “Someone I can talk about my day with, share my worries, and help me navigate when I need advice. I want to offer the same to the man I love. I also want a boy to sit on my knee, to give baths to, to take my mind off my business where I can concentrate on his needs.”

“You mean that?” Nicky asked. “Really mean that?”

“I want to take you on dates, I also want to have playdates with Liam and Jude. I want to introduce you to my friends and co-workers. To show off the brilliant and sweet man that is mine.”

“Yes,” Nicky hissed. “Please. Let’s do that.”

“Will you go out with me tomorrow night?” Law asked. “Our first official date?”

Nicky nodded.

Law approached Nicky again. “Good talk?”

“Great talk,” Nicky responded. “And I should get more kisses.”

Law lowered his mouth to Nicky’s. He didn’t waste any time giving Nicky the kisses that he deserved. As he stroked Nicky’s tongue with his own, Law finished unwrapping the rest of the garland.

Nicky grabbed the front of his sweater, holding on tight as their kiss went on and on.

When he finally backed off, Law couldn’t help but run his fingers across Nicky’s swollen lips.
