This beta was outmatched, and I managed to get a few satisfying hits in before Milo tried to defend his beta from the beating, stepping between us. Conrad backed off while I took a swing at Milo’s face. Then he jumped right back in.
Dean was slowly backing toward the door, and I knew exactly what he was about to do.
“Go ahead,” I said. “Report us to the police, and don’t worry, we’ll make sure they know that we’re defending our mate and his sister, and that we have evidence of the neglect that you caused. We have medical records verified by multiple physicians, and the photos to add to it. Oh, and not to mention the 911 emergency logs. Please… be my fucking guest.”
His eyes widened, and I swear I saw a hint of concern.
My laughter was absolutely patronizing, his eyes narrowing automatically.
“Don’t worry about her anymore, you pathetic bitch. She’s not your concern. She’s mine now, and she is well cared for because we actually give a fuck about the girl that we bonded to,” I screamed in his face.
Have we bonded? No. But they didn’t need to know that.
“Enough,” I said to the others.
Both Milo’s and Sutton’s faces were swollen and bloodied. Lennon had a busted lip, but Conrad didn’t have a single scratch. His anger was enough to shield him this time.
When Conrad didn’t stop, I pulled him back, shoving him toward the car. Lennon surged forward, knocking me out of the way and taking a blow for me. Milo had tried for a sucker shot and failed. Even in a fight, our pack was looking out for each other.
Maybe they should take some fucking notes.
While Lennon had him by the throat, I cocked my foot back, slamming it directly into the alpha’s dick, hopefully breaking his knot in the process.
Lennon laughed as he threw the alpha to the ground. He curled on his side, protecting his cock from another blow.
“When you’re laying in your fucking bed tonight recovering, I want you to think about every fucking thing that you should’ve done, but didn’t. Then savor that regret, because that’s all you’ll have left of Lana. You willnevertouch my sister again,” Conrad warned.
“She’s where she belongs now, and I hope you die alone,” Lennon said, spitting on the alpha before heading back to the truck.
Lennon tossed me the keys and I jumped in, starting it up. The moment they were both inside, I tore out of the driveway.
Justice had been partially served. Now we’d have to wait to see what they tried to do next.
I just hoped that they truly stopped and let it sink in thattheywere the cause of this.
It was never Lana.
At the end of the day, the truth was they fumbled an incredible omega, and I hoped their regrets were more punishment than we could ever give them.
Chapter
Twenty-Six
Lennon
The gossip sites had been going insane all day, and I had a feeling that was exactly why the arena was packed tonight. Our games with the Knights never did this well.
The team in question stayed huddled on their bench, staring over at us like a bunch of little schoolgirls the whole fucking time, and I was starting to get more and more annoyed.
I flexed my hand inside my glove, knuckles still aching from laying into that delta. Smashing his pretty face had been the highlight of my week. I wished we could’ve done more, but Mason was right to call it off when he did.
We hadn’t heard a peep from them since, but news of their swollen faces and bruises had definitely gotten out.
I was just waiting for the execs to call a meeting, or for some kind of fallout to drop.
For now, I focused on the game.
The first period ended in a tie. I was counting down the seconds until we were back on the ice. The Knights at least gave a damn about the game. They had more integrity than North Crossing.
