“Why do we have to accomplish anything? I agreed to stay here until the baby is born. We can work out whatever co-parenting deal your lawyers come up with. Why even bother trying toheal?”

Excellent point. I didn’t really need or want Flowers. Not if she was going to allow me to be a father to the baby.

I’d had Allison. I’d loved Allison. I’d lost Allison. I’d committed myself to dedicating the rest of my life to her because she deserved nothing less.

But the reality was, Flowers had come along and now she was pregnant with my child.

And Ididlike her.

“I’m traditional in that regard, I guess. You were with my parents these last few days. You see what they want and expect. A child raised by both parents in the same household would be better for the child.”

“And you think we can get there with sex?”

“Lots and lots of sex,” I clarified. “Like all the sex we can possibly have while you’re still comfortable. But yes, I do.”

Her lips twisted in a way that told me her brain was working double time.

“And this is an example of you wooing me? Just showing up at my bedroom door and asking me for a blow job.”

“The wooing comes after,” I explained. “I wouldn’t want to make any overtures if you were dead set against it. But if you agreed with the plan, then I could set about seducing you.”

That made her eyebrows practically lift off her head.

“Seduce me? I wouldn’t call either time a seduction. The first time I basically had to ask you and the second time we just crashed into each other.”

“No, they weren’t, were they?” I considered her words. “I haven’t exactly been very fair to you, Flowers. Hardly romantic at all.”

She crossed her arms over her chest and it drew my attention to her breasts. It wasn’t my imagination, they were larger than they had been.

I wanted my mouth on them.

“Yeah. I’ve definitely gotten the short end of the wooing stick, for sure.”

Focusing on her face again, it took me a second to process what she said.

“Well, you were working for me,” I said reasonably. “My primary objective was not romance.”

“Hmm. I don’t know,” she mused. “I want to see what kind of game you’ve got.”

“How about we start with a date, then?”

She seemed to be considering that. “Okay. Like candles and stuff?”

“You wear something nice and I’ll compliment you. Maybe even hold your hand.”

“Works for me.”

“Tomorrow?”

She nodded, but that wasn’t enough. I stretched out my hand and watched her eye it warily.

Eventually, she walked over to me and shook it. We had a deal.

I used the opportunity to pull her body into mine and then I dipped my head and kissed her on the lips. They were soft and open and she smelled like mint and Flowers. I brushed my tongue against her bottom lip, but then quickly pulled back.

Seduction was about steps and this was just the first one.

“I’ll see you tomorrow night,” I said.
