He lifted me onto his lap with ease, maneuvering my body so that I was straddling him. I cupped the back of his head, lowering myself onto the bulge straining against his slacks. Fingers firmed at the apex of my thighs, making my pussy even wetter.

“Is this a bad time?” A deep voice drawled.

I jerked away from Alaric as if he were on fire, just barely finding my balance. I turned to face whoever had spoken, smoothing my dress down.

A man in a neatly pressed suit stood in the archway of the room, an amused smile on his face. The resemblance between he and Alaric was uncanny.

The beautiful blonde beside him didn’t appear to be nearly as amused. If her scowl was an indicator of how she felt, she was pissed.

“Well, I guess I’ll start the introductions,” the lookalike began. “I’m Niklaus, Alaric’s favorite older brother. This lovely witch beside me is Rebecca, a mutual friend. And you, you’ve gotta be the surreptitious sister I’ve been hearing about.”

Surreptitious? That wasn’t usually a word you’d describe someone with. Did that mean he knew the scandalous details surrounding my existence? If he did, Alaric would too.

“It’s nice to meet you.” He held out a hand much for me to shake. I didn’t step forward to accept.

“Catalina?” Alaric spoke for the first time since we’d been interrupted. He stood from the sofa and casually adjusted himself. “Forgive their rudeness. This is my only brother and a longtime mutual colleague.”

Niklaus withdrew his offered hand, slipping it into the pocket of his suit-pants. Rebecca had moved past scowling and was now staring at me as if I were a bug she wanted to eradicate.

I clasped my hands together, unsure what to do with them. I didn’t want to talk to them, didn’t care to know who they were. I was too embarrassed having been caught on Alaric’s lap, seconds away from doing something else we could never come back from.

“Nice to meet you,” I lied.

I needed to get the hell out of this room. Without sparing any of them a second glance, I fought the compulsion to flee at a run and walked, calmly making an exit.

CHAPTER EIGHT

The desire to pursue her was overwhelming. The thought of finally being inside Catalina’s pussy had my dick hard as stone, damn near throbbing. She wanted me, that was fucking obvious. Most women did.

Difference was, I wanted her just as badly. I longed to claim her, tear her apart. Make her writhe beneath me in pleasure and pain.

I’d force her to call for me.

She would come with tears streaming down her face and harder than she ever had before. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t have happened tonight even if she’d begged me for it.

It would take time for Catalina to transition into a new lifestyle. Until then, I’d have to continue down the current path we were on. Didn’t matter if I wanted to drag her into my bedroom and spend all day and night buried inside the pussy, I had worked so hard to obtain. I couldn’t deviate. I had to make sure she was ready for what life with me would consist of.

“You two have impeccable timing.”

“Based on that little display, I’d have to agree,” Rebecca retorted.

“Jealous already Bec?”

“Shut up Niklaus,” she snapped, crossing her arms over her chest.

I regarded them with an unamused frown. I didn’t care about them scaring off my newest acquisition. It was there blatant disregard for my privacy that irritated me. Niklaus of all people knew better. Rebecca had recently started forgetting her place and toeing the envelope.

“Did you two have a purpose for coming into my house unannounced or was the goal merely to piss me off?”

My brother rocked back on his heels, turning his head in either direction.

“You can speak freely. She’ll be in her room for the remainder of the night.” I brushed past him and headed for the kitchen to make myself a stiff drink.

“You sound pretty sure about that,” he replied, catching up to me with ease.

“That’s because I am sure.”

“Don’t tell me you’ve got her figured out already.” Rebecca lilted, trailing behind us.

My brother sat his duffel on my island, and then addressed her. “Is that a joke? He’s been working on this one for over a month.”

“This one isn’t like the others,” I reminded him.

Rebecca frowned. “Wait. She’s the who you’ve been so sure about?”

“Yes.”

“She looks nothing like Meg.”

“Thank fuck for that,” I replied. It wasn’t that Meg had been ugly, quite the opposite. I just couldn’t stand the sight of her. I could’ve looked at Catalina all fucking day. From those damn hips to her sensual lips and angelic face. She was a true diamond in the rough, my personal Vincent Van Goh.

“How’s the whole grieving husband thing going?” Niklaus joked.

“It’s going, but not well. You know how hard it is for to me fake that emotion.” I grabbed a half glass and filled it with ice. “Do you have what we need somewhere in that bag?”
