My blood runscoldat the confession.
No wonder Sunshine was so heartbroken.
They fuckingliedto her.
But the betrayal takes a backseat as I mull his words over. “Let me through.”
The guard doesn't budge, and my fists tighten at my sides.
“I was only trying to buy a little time…” Ford’s voice trails as I hear footsteps pounding up the stairs. Someone is running with haste, and the facade of this meeting unravels before my eyes.
I shove past the man blocking me from the door, only for it to be ripped open a second later by Dominic.
He’s breathing heavily, his eyes hard and unforgiving. “Logan took her.”
My heart pounds as I slowly peer over my shoulder at the wretched man behind the desk. Ford looks smug, but he won't be for long.
“If even a hair is out of place, I’ll kill you before you can think of escaping this state. You’ve destroyed the line, andblood can no longer save you.” With every timber of my voice, it feels as if my anger could shake the very fabric of this home. With every promise, it’s bound by fate.
And Ford has just sealed his own.
Chapter Thirty-Six
Addison
The kidnapping is really starting to piss me off. I was minding my business, letting the secrets that unfolded flip over and over again in my head until all hell broke loose.
While I was kicking a rock with my shoe, contemplating picking it up and chucking it at my uncle’s office window out of pure spite, Logan gave a signal that I missed.
There were boots scuffling across the porch, and before I could peer behind me to get a good look at whatever was going on, Logan snatched me up and dragged me, flailing limbs and all, back to his house with a hand slapped over my mouth so I couldn't scream.
I bit him so hard that I drew blood, but it wasn't enough as he roughly bound my wrists and then buckled me into the back seat of his truck.
Now we’re barreling down some undisclosed back road with heavy, dense forest surrounding us. As I lean back in my seat, I slam my feet into the back of his, causing his head to slightly bob with the motion as he drives.
“Kicking my seat isn't doing you any good.” Logan deadpans.
“Yeah, I'm imagining it’s your head.” Sarcasm drips from my words as I kick again.
“This is for your own good, A.”
I grit my teeth, slamming my shoes harder against his back. “This family is a fucking prison!”
His lips thin as he stares at me in the rearview. “Really? A little dramatic, don't you think?”
“Oh!” My eyes widen as my voice turns sickly sweet. “Ithought it was forbidden for me to think. Fuck you!”
Slam.
Slam.
Slam.
“You’re acting like a child!” Logan shouts, swatting a hand back at me.
“And you’re an incomparable ass!” I return.
Oh, god.
