“Yes, anjo,” he groaned, tightening his grip in his hair. After a few more thrusts, the tangy taste of his semen drizzled down on my tongue and coated the roof of my mouth.

He kept himself fully planted in my throat, ensuring I swallowed every last drop before finally pulling out.

Grasping his cock in his hand, he squeezed out another drop of come onto his thumb and wiped it on my lower lip. I followed the action with a swipe of my tongue, swallowing it like I’d done the rest.

He said something I couldn’t understand and smiled down at me, reaching for my hands to help me stand again.

I reached for a wash rag that he was quick to take the second I picked it up. I stood still and let him clean my entire body simply because I liked the feel of his hands on me. He saved my face for last, letting the mess settle on my skin.

When he finished with himself, he turned me so that I was facing him head on.

“Wait five minutes and then come out. I’m going to leave something on the bed.” There was no further explanation given.

He kissed me softly and then stepped out of the shower.

I stood beneath the spray of water counting backward from sixty, wondering what it could be. I only made it to three minutes before I said fuck it and let my curiosity get the better of me.

Skipping clothes for the moment, I wrapped my shivering body and wet locks in plush towels.

Upon entering the bedroom, I spotted a simple cotton jersey dress laid out on the bed beside another inconspicuous white box with a blue ribbon tied across it.

It was the same size as the one the queen of diamonds had been in, giving me a case of déjà vu.

Tucking the towel beneath my arms, I sat on the bed and lifted the box onto my lap. I undid the ribbon and removed the lid.

The moment I did time seemed to pause.

My brain worked quickly bouncing the probability of what I was looking at around in my head.

Inside was a thin black iPhone with a slim diagonal crack on the right hand side.

A phone case with faded glittering cherries confirmed I was really looking at my sister’s phone.

Beside it were two cards: one was plain white and simply said omit.

The other was the distorted face of a joker.

Chapter Thirteen

Too many questions, not enough answers.

I couldn’t find a single soul inside the house, almost as if Mateo had told everyone to make themselves scarce.

Given he still had my cellphone, I couldn’t even call anyone.

The landline that should have been attached to the wall in the kitchen housing top of the line appliances, enough to make culinary connoissuer weep, was gone.

Eva’s phone no longer dialed out and I’m not sure how anyone would feel getting contacted by a girl that was supposed to be dead...unless they already knew she wasn’t.

Needing answers right then and there and unable to get them, I began making my way towards the garage.

Mateo told me I was allowed to leave unless he said otherwise. I considered this to be one of those times. If it wasn’t he could personally tell me that himself.

My entire trek to the garage I felt as if someone was watching me. Looking around, though, all I saw was emptiness, and the only sound came from the soft footfalls of my comfy flats.

I had yet to find any cameras no matter how hard I squinted, but I knew in the back of my mind they were there.

The Cadillac was parked just like he’d claimed it would be, with the key fob in the middle console alongside a limitless black visa and credit card with my soon to be new name on them.
