"You don't have..." I started, letting out a sigh as he applied a bit more pressure.

"I don't have to, but I want to," he said, his thumb moving to my clit as his fingers moved down my cleft. "Mmm," he murmured when his fingers gently slid inside me. "You want to feel me here, right?" he asked, starting to thrust.

"Yes." God, yes. More than I could say.

"Been thinking about that a lot," he said as my hips started to rock against his touch. "It hasn't been easy, being next to you every night, keeping my hands to myself."

"You didn't have to," I told him. "I wanted you to touch me," I said. "I've always wanted you to," I added as his fingers got more insistent, as his thumb pressed harder, driving me up, pushing me to that edge. A rumble moved through him as my walls tightened hard, then started to spasm.

His other hand moved up, pressing over my mouth, muffling my cries as I came.

We stayed just as we were after, both quiet, lost in our own thoughts.

Until there was a knock, "Wheels in twenty," Huck's tired voice called.

"I know," Che said when a grumble escaped me, pressing a kiss to the back of my head.

"Do you know how long you'll be gone?" I asked as he slowly untwined from me.

"I wish I did," he said. "We might come back to sleep, but I don't know when," he told me, moving slowly to sit off the bed.

"How's your side?" I asked.

"It's fine," he insisted, brushing it off.

On a sigh, I slid in behind him, pressing my face to his back.

"Promise me you'll be careful."

"I will be," he assured me, reaching behind to give my thigh a squeeze. "Don't worry about me."

"I'm going to worry."

Che got to his feet, turning to look down at me, giving me a soft smile.

"I shouldn't, but I like that," he admitted, reaching down to press a hand to my cheek. "Hang out with the girls, okay? Keep your mind off shit."

"Girls?" I asked, brows drawing together.

"We brought Ayanna in last night. She could use some friends right now," he told me, something in his voice making me flash back to her anger at Booker the last time we'd seen them for dinner. So she'd finally had enough. From what I could tell, they'd been together for years. I didn't know much about breakups, never having let myself get attached to a guy since high school, but I imagined Che was right. Ayanna needed some friends. "I'll be back as soon as I can," he told me, turning, shoving his feet into his shoes, and then heading out.

I didn't immediately follow, not wanting to see him and his brothers strapping on guns, heading out to some unknown fate.

It wasn't until I heard the front door close that I went to brush my teeth, then walked out to the main area of the condo.

Ayanna and Harmon were both already on the couch, a blanket shared between them, both staring up at the TV, but not seeming to watch it at all.

"Is, ah, is Teddy here?" I asked, looking around, feeling weird about walking around his place without him there.

"He had to go into the office for a bit," Ayanna supplied. "It's just us for a while."

"Just us," I repeated, tension coiling through my system.

And I immediately hated myself for it.

I'd never been a woman who needed a man to feel secure. I'd always taken care of myself. Even in sticky situations. I mean, my whole job was a sticky situation. With less-than-upstanding men. I'd always gotten out of it.

I didn't need to have Che or his brothers around to feel secure.

"Don't worry," Harmon said, looking over at me. "Teddy doesn't mind us being here. You don't have to feel weird about taking food or making yourself comfortable."

"I was around before they all got their new clubhouse," Ayanna said. "The guys used to come here and crash with a harem of women, leave the place a complete sty, and Teddy never gave a damn. He has cleaners and personal shoppers on speed dial."

"He's really that rich?" I asked, not able to fathom that, even when I was standing in his multi-million-dollar penthouse.

"He's the kind of rich that Harmon is," Ayanna said, giving Harm a smirk.

"I'm not rich," Harmon insisted. "I just... my mom married into a rich family. But I got out of there as quickly as possible. But, yeah, Teddy is the 'my yacht is bigger than your yacht' kind of rich. So, maybe steal some soap for when you go back home," she said, smiling.

"The body conditioner is amazing too," Ayanna agreed.

"What is body conditioner?" I asked, confused.

"She has so much to learn," Ayanna said, shaking her head at Harmon.

"Wait until she sees the fancy ice cream we are going to hit after a respectable hour," Harmon said.
