“I don’t know why that would be selfish.”

“It is,” Cree says and then shrugs. “I’m glad it’s me and not someone else. That’s purely for my own benefit, not yours, so it is selfish. I suppose I’m feeling a little possessive.”

“Well, I’m glad it’s you, too.” I’m not sure how I feel about the word possessive, and it makes me wonder about the preferences he mentioned before.

“Good.” Cree strokes my arm softly.

Everything he’s done has been soft and gentle, but that’s not the sort of thing he’s talked about, and my curiosity gets the better of me.

“You said you liked it rough, but what we just did wasn’t rough at all, not until the end. The rest of it surprised me because it was so gentle.”

“I tried to keep it slow and sensual,” Cree says. “Rope can be a lot rougher and faster.”

“I might like that.” I didn’t actually mean to say the words out loud, but I can hardly take them back now.

“Would you?” Cree’s tone changes, and I hear something a little dark and maybe even ominous in his voice. “Would you, really?”

I pause, mouth open, and think about just what he might mean.

Right before he stopped, I had been a bit frightened. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to breathe, but Cree showed me there was another way. He promised he wouldn’t choke me, and I believe him.

I trust him.

Directly before then—before he put his hand on my neck—I had been undeniably excited, and he had been a bit rough. I’ve had fantasies about being held down though I never have admitted it to anyone. It all seemed so forbidden, so wrong.

But I liked him being rough, and considering what he’s already told me, I shouldn’t be nervous about telling him.

“Yes,” I whisper. I clear my throat and say it louder. “Yes, I think I would like that.”

“You’re sure?” Cree’s eyes darken as a sly half-smile emerges. “You need to be really sure.”

“I am.” My hands start to shake along with my voice. “If you’re up for it, anyway.”

“Oh, I’m up for it.” Cree glances down and then back to me. The bulge between his legs says it all.

“I mean, you’ve already tied me up twice. I have to imagine that can get a little tiring for you.”

sp; “It will ultimately wear me out.”

“I don’t want you worn out.”

Cree grins as he moves forward, grabbing my ankle and pulling me toward him.

“I don’t need rope to keep you tied.”

Chapter 9—Cree

I yank Kas’s ankle, pulling her onto her back, and then leap on top of her. With my left hand, I grab the hair at the back of her head, making sure I have a good grip. I grin down at her maliciously. It takes only a second to grab her right arm with mine and flip her over, using my arm to cushion her fall while using my grip on her hair to keep her head from striking the floor. I place my chest firmly against her back while constraining her legs with mine, and Kas gasps.

“No need for rope,” I whisper in her ear, “but I can use some if you prefer. It’s fun either way.”

Kas responds with some indecipherable grunt. She reaches forward, pressing her fingertips to the floor, struggling weakly.

“You want rope?” I ask again. I tighten my grip on her hair, pulling her head back a little farther.

“Whatever you want,” she finally replies.
