She looked up at him, her eyes dazed, but she wrapped her legs around his hips. They both groaned as he entered her, pushing himself deep. She was wet and slick, and the pulses of her continuing release milked him. He gritted his teeth. Fuck, if he didn’t find some control he was going to come from just one pump.

He drew back, taking a deep breath then drove forward.

“Jake. Jake. Come inside me. Please, take me. Make me yours.”

Oh, fuck. Those words sent shards of desire through his body. His balls tightened. She was his. Maybe not forever, but for the moment. He pulled back then drove forward. But did he want to say goodbye? Could he? Doubt stirred, and he forced himself to push it back. For the first time, the idea of having something permanent with her pulled at him. And instead of making him want to draw back, he found himself embracing it.

His woman.

He let go, his thrusts coming hard and fast. He reached down and placed his thumb over her clit.

“Come again, Molly.”

She shook her head. Her face was flushed, her hair was spilling out against the dark wood of his table. Sweat coated both their bodies. “I can’t.”

“You can. You will. When I tell you to let go, you’re going to come so fucking hard you’ll see stars, you hear me? You will do as I say.”

Her eyes widened, but she nodded. He moved his thumb around her clit, circling it but not putting too much pressure on it. With his free hand, he teased her nipple, rolling it between his finger and thumb then tugging on it lightly.

“Jake! Jake!”

She clenched down around him. He gritted his teeth. Just a bit more. A bit more.

“Molly, come. Come right the fuck now!”

She screamed, exploding around his hard shaft. And Jake let go, flying over the edge.

Molly rolled over in bed and stretched with a happy sigh. She opened her eyes, not surprised to see Jake had already gotten up. He wasn’t one for sitting still for long or for sleeping in, unless he’d been up late the night before. She sat up, thinking about how it was hard to believe that two weeks had passed since he’d claimed her at the club. Since then, they’d been back just once to play. Most of the time they’d hung out at his house.

It was easy and fun, and she wasn’t just talking about the sex. Yeah, there was plenty of that and it was amazing. That man had a wicked imagination and he had a lot of energy. She yawned and moved into the bathroom, feeling a bit tired. It was hard for her to keep up sometimes. Thankfully, she’d been able to get a few afternoon naps in or she’d never had survived.

She had a long, hot shower then got dressed. She wondered where Jake was. He didn’t start his shift until noon today. She walked into the kitchen and spotted a note beside the coffee machine.

Got called into work.

Maybe she’d go back to bed. She chewed at her lip. Was she more tired due to the cancer? Was it moving aggressively through her body? Sapping her energy? Fear filled her. She clenched her hands on the edge of the countertop, fighting off the threatening panic attack.

She wasn’t ready to leave yet. Wasn’t ready for the beach, the cocktails, the end.

She wanted to stay here, to be with Jake for as long as she could. To be happy. Oh, God. She didn’t want to say goodbye. She had something good here. Something precious. If she let down her walls she knew she’d fall in love with Jake. She was mostly there already.

The only thing holding her back was knowing it was all going to end. She had to say goodbye. She had to go.

Unless you fight.

Was she doing the right thing by not fighting? If it caused her this much panic at the thought of leaving, shouldn’t she be doing all she could to stay? She didn’t know what to do. Jake had made it clear this wasn’t forever. That he couldn’t commit. And even if he did want more, he didn’t know the whole truth. He hadn’t signed on for a sick partner.

Jake was the strongest person she knew. He was a rock. Nothing phased him. Maybe she should tell him. This wasn’t her; she wasn’t normally so indecisive. She always knew what to do. At least when it came to other people’s lives. When it came to herself she’d always pushed her own wants and needs aside for others.

But keeping a secret like this, it wasn’t right. It went against her nature. If she was her own patient, she’d be urging herself to tell him.

Fuck. Why did she have to find him now? This was so wrong, so unjust. It was so horribly unfair. Her hands clenched into fists and she had to fight hard to hold back her anger, it wasn’t helping anyone.

Life wasn’t fucking fair and she had to just pull up her big girl panties and make sure she got the most out of the time she had left. Easier said than done. Especially now, when she had more in her life than she ever had. Friends, a place that felt like home. Jake.

“This is messed up.” She walked with her coffee into the living room and sat on the sofa. With a sigh, she switched on the TV, but the noise annoyed her. She switched it off and went back into the bedroom.
