“What are you doing? The sun is about to come up!” Panic shot through me. I couldn’t be caught outside. He laughed.
“I know. That’s why I waited. Your boyfriend can’t save you. By the time he can come out, you’ll be far away from here.”
“Yeah, I’ll be fucking dead.” I snarled and tried to knee his chest. He only laughed again.
“That too.”
I fought hard, but he still was able to throw me in a trunk and start the car. Dread filled me so completely when the vehicle began to move. The sun would rise soon, and there was nothing I could do other than wait it out.
My kidnapper drove and drove. I tried to memorize when he stopped or turned for the first bit, but I was still bound, and my eyes were covered. Paired with how long the drive was, it was nearly impossible.
I ended up sleeping for a time but woke up long before he came to retrieve me. Instead, I plotted revenge.
The man in question was human. His body had been warm, and he was driving during the day. Anything could kill him.Good.
However, my plans to horse kick him and smash his chest were derailed when the trunk finally opened. The car had been parked for a while. I really had no idea how long I had been gone from Ludovica’s estate.
I was lifted up and tossed into a kitchen chair. The man had thick leather gloves on that he twisted against my skin as he slowly removed the original restraints and switched them for tighter ones that he tied to the chair. I fought, but it did no good. I would just have to wait. But then, he removed the bag, and his face shocked me so completely that I almost fainted.
Ice blue eyes. He had turned. He had killed himself in order to change into a vampire, so I would have a harder time killing him.
“You fucking kidnapped me, then left me to go commit suicide?” I screamed. Once the shock wore off, I was furious. I looked around the room. I was in a filthy kitchen with horrible lighting. I just about gagged at the trash in piles everywhere.
He laughed. “I’ve been waiting forever to turn. Ludovica told me one last favor, and I could do it.”
I grimaced. “What did you do?” Grotesque curiosity got the best of me.
“Don’t worry about it,” he snarled.
Suddenly a female laugh came from behind me. I stiffened and turned my head. Another Bloodshed vampire sauntered in. She looked just as sick as the man did. They looked like they hadn’t slept in ages. Their skin was waxy and stressed.
“This idiot. He was supposed to drink a cup of hull clean. I had it poured into a cup, ready for him to get home. Somehow he missed the only cup on the counter and decided to down some lye instead.”
Lye?
The man reached his giant arm out and slapped the woman. She flew back and let out a guttural growl, springing to life and leaping onto him. I couldn’t do anything except sit there and watch the pair fight on the filthy floor.
“Poor James. Not getting the labels right. Should’ve learned to read.” She laughed as she sucker-punched him in the jaw.
The two seemed to forget about me completely for a moment. I began wiggling my wrists, trying to free myself. I rolled my ankles. I was rubbing them raw. They hurt, and I wasn’t getting any closer to being free.
I tried to think of my options but the couple screaming made it hard to concentrate. But then, it finally clicked.
Using all of the strength I could muster, I rocked my chair from one side to the other as hard as I could until I fell hard onto the floor! The force of the impact broke some of the legs and an arm, allowing me to rip my own limbs free.
In an instant, I was ripping the wood apart and stood. They noticed me then. They stopped fighting and stared. The woman, seeing both broken chair legs in my hands, swallowed the lump in her throat and scurried up. She put her hands up and backed out of the room.
“I don’t want any trouble. This was all his thing. You’re on your own.” She sprinted out. James, on the other hand, was prepared for this. He smirked and stood.
“Why do you think I turned before I came and got you? Ludovica said you were feisty. Come at me, bitch.”
And just like that, I moved. I launched myself over the kitchen table and onto him. He stumbled back, grabbed my middle, and dug his stubby fingers into me, but this wasn’t my first time dealing with big guys. I was quicker than him. I shoved a spike into his back, just under the shoulder bone. He screamed, and I kept grinding it in further. He let go of me and began swatting his back in an attempt to grab the stake.
I dropped down onto the floor, and before launching myself up, I used both of my legs and kicked him as hard as I could. The heels of my shoes hit his face and punctured his cheeks. He let out a yelp and fell back.
“You shouldn’t have done this,” I said, hurrying to the cabinets. I began opening drawers in search of a knife.”
“I was just following orders, you bitch!” He snarled as he continued trying to get the chair leg out of his back.
