“I bet. I’m embarrassed for him too.”
“He won’t be visiting you in the early morning hours anymore.”
“Did you threaten him?”
“No, of course not,” I lied and then instantly recanted. “I’m sorry, I don’t know why I said that. I did a bit. I was pretty pissed off. I didn’t realize I was the jealous type.”
“Don’t be mean to your friends. It’s not like he actually tried anything. I didn’t even get to read the letter he wrote me.”
Thank god for that. It was mine and Aleida’s wedding invitation. She had sent them out without my knowledge a week ago. The date was set for a week after I turned into a full vampire.
“When am I seeing you next?” she asked.
I looked over at the calendar I had on my wall right beside the phone. Aleida had written all over it.She had me booked for all sorts of wedding shit for the next three weeks. She wanted to pick flowers, register for gifts, select a band, and even try cakes. Why we’d care about what food was served when we would both be vampires by then confused me, but I knew I’d be expected to do these things anyways.
“I have Friday the 13th off. I think that movie I’ve been wanting to see will be out. What do you say. Movie date?”
“Sure. But what do I do until then? I quit my job, remember?”
I thought for a moment.
“You said you want to do more art, right? Tomorrow, expect a delivery.”
