Ricki let go of Abby’s hand and put her arm over Abby’s shoulder, pulling her in tight. “I never knew I could love someone as much as I do you.”

Abby threaded her arm around Ricki’s waist. “And I feel the same. Who needs a life of adventure when I’ve got you?”

“Are you calling me boring?”

“No, I’m calling us boring.”

“Do you really think our life is boring?”

Abby shook her head. “No, not anymore.” She pointed toward the TV. “But in a world of glamor and glitz, they’d call us boring.”

“And they’d be wrong.” Ricki squeezed her tighter. “I wouldn’t want any other life.”

“Me neither.” Abby snuggled closer to Ricki. “I think their award is up next.”

Ricki’s hands went cold, and she closed her eyes. Maybe not seeing it and just hearing it would make it better.

The presenter ran through the list of nominees. Ricki smiled when they got to the Dykonic Duo. If the crowd’s roar was any indication, they stood a chance of winning.

“This is it,” Abby said.

Ricki opened one eye as the presenter tore open the envelope. “And the Golden Thumb goes to…The Dykonic Duo.”

The crowd erupted, and Abby and Ricki jumped to their feet cheering.

“What the fuck, they won,” Ricki said through her tears. The guilt Ricki had wrestled with for a year washed away. Blythe had found the life she craved and the perfect partner.

Blythe and Dapper swaggered to the stage. Of course, they did. Always on brand. After the presenter handed them the award, they lifted it overhead together, and the crowd erupted. Despite their excitement, they were poised enough to run through all the people they needed to thank. She left Ricki and Abby for last, and tears welled in her eyes as she thanked them, but her enormous smile remained.

Then a serious expression settled on Blythe’s face. “There’s one more thing I need to say.”

A whisper went through the crowd before it quieted. For months, their followers questioned Dapper and Blythe’s relationship, so some might have suspected what was coming.

She turned to Dapper and held out her hand. Dapper took it and moved closer.

“There’s been speculation, rumors about us, and I want to set them straight.” Blythe giggled. “Well, there’s nothing straight about us, but you get the idea.”

Blythe pulled Dapper toward her, and their lips met. There was no mistaking the passion in their kiss.

When they separated, Blythe grinned. The twinkle in her eye was typical Blythe. “That should clear up any confusion about our relationship.” She held up the Golden Thumb. “Thanks, and watch out, the Dykonic Duo is just getting started.”

“Dyke drop,” Blythe and Dapper said together. “Keep it unfiltered.”

The crowd had already risen to their feet, but they let out a collective cheer as Blythe and Dapper strutted from the stage.

“Epic,” Ricki said.

“How long do you think they rehearsed that?” Abby asked.

“They always say they’re so good they only need one take.”

“So for the last two months?”

Ricki laughed. “Blythe will never tell.”
