Blythe handed Ricki her phone and jumped up from her chair.
“Dude, are you seriously going to watch over my shoulder?”
“Yep.” Blythe reached around Ricki and hit the play button.
Ricki chuckled as the librarian danced with wild abandon. “Does she always dance like this?”
“Only when she really loves a book.” Blythe pointed. “Wait for it.”
On the screen, the librarian joyously spun in circles with her arms outstretched. As the video ended, she dropped to her knees and held the book out over her head.
“Jesus, she dances like that over a book?” Ricki asked.
“Her thing is interpretive dance book reviews.”
“Now you’re fucking with me.” Ricki hit the play button again.
“I’m not. She’s done them for about a year, but this one hit the big-time. The author even commented on it. It wouldn’t surprise me if they paid her for it.”
A smile lit Ricki’s face as she rewatched the video. “What happens if she hates a book?”
“That’s what everyone’s been asking, but she refuses to do negative reviews.” Blythe clapped her hand over her heart. “But damned, that would be so hot.”
“She is cute.” Ricki pulled the phone closer to her face. “But not the flashy type you’re drawn to.”
Blythe pointed at the heart button on the screen. “A half a million likes makes her hotter.”
“You’re an idiot.” Ricki scrolled to another video and watched the librarian do another review.
“Don’t watch that one. It doesn’t have much engagement.”
Blythe went to swipe the phone, but Ricki pulled it back. “Whoa, I’m not done.”
“There’re better ones.” Blythe tried to swipe again, but Ricki stopped her.
“Let me be the judge.” Ricki smiled broader as she watched. “She’s great.”
When the next video started, Blythe stared at Ricki’s face, wanting to see her reaction. Blythe wasn’t disappointed as Ricki’s eyes widened.
Ricki burst out laughing. “What the hell did I just watch? Was she pretending to ride a horse or what?”
“Read the comments. She was trying to do theGangnam Styledance.”
“Damn. Some of these comments are brutal.”
“Comes with the territory. Even the haters help. The algorithms don’t care if it’s positive or negative engagement.”
Ricki shook her head. “I can’t imagine the libr—what’s her name, anyway?”
“Shhh&Shake It.” When Blythe noticed Ricki’s puzzled expression, she added, “I think her name is Abby. But her handle is Shhh&Shake It.”
Ricki still sported a blank look.
“For fuck’s sake, Shhh for being a librarian, you know for being quiet, and Shake It for her dancing.”
Understanding registered in Ricki’s eyes. “Clever. And all she does is dancing book reviews?”
“Yep. As far as I can tell, she’s never spoken a word.”
