“Jesus. You’re going to crush my toes.” Ricki bent her knees, pulling her feet from under Blythe.

“Oh, stop whining.” When Ricki said nothing more, Blythe added, “and you didn’t answer my question.”

“I don’t need to tag along on your date. It’s weird.” Ricki dropped her book onto her stomach and stared at Blythe. “Get to know her better.”

“I know her.” Blythe scowled. “I’ve been talking to her for over a month.”

“What’s her favorite book?”

Blythe threw her hands up. “How the hell should I know? I’m not a book nerd like you.”

“The Great Gatsbyfor classics. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugomodern day. And her guilty pleasure is theTwilightseries.”

Blythe waved her hand toward Ricki. “I rest my case. It’s not like her and I talk books. That’s your department.”

“She’s a librarian, so books are pretty important to her.”

“I don’t tell her about every rider I pick up.”

“But you tell her all about your content creation, so it’s only fair.”

Blythe let out an exasperated sigh. “All the more reason to come with us. You can guide me through the bookish questions.”

“And why did you force her to let your followers determine how she wore her hair?”

“I didn’t force her.” Blythe glared at Ricki.

“Okay, maybe it wasn’t force, but you pushed her.”

“I encouraged her. Big difference. You know how I feel about consent.”

“Fine. I’m sorry.” Ricki pushed herself into a sitting position, so she was at eye level with Blythe. “I didn’t mean anything by it, but I must have hit a nerve.”

“Do you feel bad enough to change your mind?” Blythe gave Ricki a mischievous grin.

Ricki chuckled. “Always looking for an angle.”

“I’m all about the persuasion.”

“And how is that working out for you, getting me on camera?”

Blythe held up one finger. “It’s the only damn nut I’ve never been able to crack.”

“Hmm, I didn’t realize you were into nuts.” Ricki laughed at her own joke.

“Who’s into nuts?” Abby said as she entered the room.

Blythe stared for several beats before she jumped up from the couch. “Jesus. Remind me to thank my followers.”

Abby looked away and pulled on her hair, which cascaded to her shoulders. With her hair down, Abby’s beauty was more apparent. Blythe wasn’t sure why, but her gray eyes seemed smokier. Maybe it was her makeup.

“You look amazing.” Blythe put her hands on Abby’s shoulders, and their eyes met before Blythe’s gaze traveled the rest of Abby’s body. Her navy blue dress came just above her knees. While it wasn’t like the tight black dresses many women wore, it was still sexy as hell.

The sleeveless dress showed off Abby’s well-toned arms, which surprised Blythe since she didn’t expect muscle definition from a librarian. Another stereotype she’d have to overcome. A draped cowl neck covered Abby’s cleavage, making Blythe want to see more. The draping continued down the front of the dress, but the dress still hugged her enough to show off her shapely body.

“Are you a runner?” Ricki asked from the couch.

Blythe turned and looked at Ricki. “What?”
