Abby rushed to where Blythe swayed from the rope, realizing that if she complied, Blythe would come down before she fell and broke her neck. Abby stretched up to kiss Blythe but discovered Blythe was too high.

“Shit,” Blythe said, straining her neck to get closer. Even with Abby standing on her tiptoes, there were still several inches apart.

Blythe fumbled with her harness.

“Stop!” Ricki rushed to the patio and grabbed the large wooden box they used for deliveries. She struggled to get it down the stairs, so Abby hurried to her and helped drag the box into the yard. “Stand on it.” Ricki held out her hand so Abby could step up.

As soon as Abby was securely on top of the box, Ricki stepped back and held up her phone. “Hurry so we can get your ass down.”

Blythe grinned. Her face was even redder than before. “Ready?”

“Yes, just do it,” Ricki said.

Abby took Blythe’s head between her hands and put her lips against Blythe’s. It was weird kissing someone upside down, but she resisted pulling away because if she did, Blythe would insist on another take.

When Blythe pulled back from the kiss, she thrust her hand toward the ground. “Dyke drop. Keep it unfiltered,” she said with a huge smile.

“Cut!” Ricki yelled. “Let’s get your ass down.”

CHAPTER 22

Blythe tossed her emptypaper plate onto the coffee table and sat back on the couch. She would’ve preferred going to a restaurant, but with Abby being such a good sport earlier, Blythe agreed on pizza delivery.

“Do you want any more?” Ricki asked Abby.

Abby waved her hand over the piece of pizza still on her plate. “I’m not sure I’ll finish this one. But it was delicious.”

Ricki stood and picked up the pizza box from the table.

“Hey, what about me?” Blythe asked.

Ricki grabbed Blythe’s discarded plate. “Nope. You threw in the towel. Besides, if you eat any more, you’re going to burst.” When Ricki got to the hallway, she called, “Does anyone need anything? Another beer, Abby?”

Abby shook her head. “No, thanks.”

Blythe studied Abby. There was something different about her tonight. She seemed more confident. Sure of herself. It surprised Blythe when Abby stood her ground about pizza. She’d insistedsince they wanted an earlier start tomorrow that she wanted to stay in. Blythe suspected she was missing something, but she couldn’t figure out what.

Though getting a good night’s sleep wasn’t a bad idea since Blythe had been up late all week. After she got home at night, she’d spent hours curating content and responding to followers. She’d even cut a few of her Uber nights short, so she’d have more time for it. Though she needed to be careful since her bank account was paying the price.

Blythe picked up her cellphone and slid down the couch toward Abby. “Shall we see how our video is doing?”

Abby set her plate on the table. “I can’t eat anymore.” She surprised Blythe when she snuggled against her and rested her head on Blythe’s shoulder. “You just posted it an hour ago.”

“It’s going viral.” When Blythe opened TikTok, her heart sank. “What the fuck? It’s not trending.”

“I told you. It’s only been an hour.” Abby put her hand on Blythe’s thigh and rubbed it. “Give it time. It’s Friday night. It might take a while to get traction.”

To ease her frustration, she clicked back on some of her more successful posts from the past week.

“Are you still fighting with Dapper?” Abby asked.

“Did you see what the asshole posted last night?”

Abby shook her head. As many times as Blythe told Abby she should monitor what their competition was posting, she couldn’t get through to Abby. Blythe took a deep breath. At least Abby would make comments when Blythe asked her to, so Blythe shouldn’t complain.

Blythe pulled up Dapper’s video. “Check out this bullshit.” Blythe sneered as she watched it for the umpteenth time. Dapper read a poem she’d written for her new girlfriend. Blythe had done the same thing two days before. “She can’t create anything original.”

Abby hushed Blythe as she listened to Dapper drone on.
