“Asher,” I snap, pointing to my door. “Leave my bedroom now.”
His brow quirks up. “Or what?”
“Or you can find yourself somewhere else to live.”
Both of his brows lift this time, my words seeming to do the trick as he takes a small step back.
“You don’t mean that,” he rasps, a frown tugging at his brows.
He doesn’t want to leave. And I don’t want him to leave either. But Ineedhim to.
He does something to me. Something that is too close to the way the Crimson Angel makes me feel. It’s a depraved kind oflust. The kind that borders between kink and pure filth. It’s too depraved to ever reveal to another person. The monster in me needs to stay hidden, and I fear this man before me has the power to completely undo me.
“I… I just need you to leave,” I breathe, pleadingly. “Please.”
CHAPTER 8
ASHER
She’s internally fighting with herself again. I can see it in her expression. Part of her wants me to stay. The other part wants me to leave. It’s because of the part I know wants me as much as I want her that has me standing my ground.
“How can I leave you like this?”
Her brows tug inward at my question. “Like what?”
I step closer to her again, gently dragging my knuckles down her cheek.
“So… horny.”
“What?” She shakes her head and takes a step back, only for the back of her legs to meet her bed, causing her to nearly fall back.
“You didn’t have a committee meeting tonight, did you?” I ask, and a look of confusion contorts her face, before she opens her mouth to speak, but snaps it shut again, shaking her head, so I push a little more. “Did you, Lily?”
“Asher. Stop this. I did have a meeting tonight and you shouldn’t be in here.”
I grin. “Lil. Your committee meetings don’t run past two in the morning.” I brush her hair back over her ear, and I swear, she tilts her head into my touch just a fraction.
“Yes… I…”
I chuckle. “Were you on a date?”
Again, her eyes drop to my lips, and I know she’s thinking about kissing me. And fuck, I want that so bad.
She shakes her head at my question, but then she starts to nod.
“Yes. Yes, I was on a date.”
Liar.
I want to call her out on her lie, but there’s no need. She’s not going to tell me where she really was. I don’t mind that she’s lying about that, though, since the idea of her on a date has me ready to use those killing skills I learned at Wands.
I’m fairly certain she isn’t seeing anyone else, though, so I keep that primal urge tucked away for now.
“I’m confused then.” I narrow my eyes at her, and she squirms, clearly uncomfortable by my scrutiny.
“About what?”
“Well, if you’re coming home from a date after two in the morning, one would assume you had an eventful, satisfyingnight. Yet here you are, starvedfor touch.Achingwith need.”
