“He’s going to have a coronary when we get back.” Kira giggles as someone passes her a glass of champagne.

“You can sleep in my room tonight. You’ll be safe there.” I laugh.

“I don’t think I’ll be safe anywhere.” She doesn’t seem concerned.

“Since we’ve stolen you away, and clearly gotten you into trouble, maybe introductions are in order.” The bachelorette fixes her sash and clinks glasses with one of her bridesmaids. Or at least that’s whom I’m assuming she is. “I’m Brooke. And this is Sharon, Amelia, Pacey, Christine, and Kat,” she goes around the limo.

“Kira.” She raises her hand.

“And I’m Liv.”

“Perfect. Now that we’re all friends, are you ready to party, Kira and Liv?” Brooke asks with an enormous smile.

We both nod.

Bring on girls’ night.

* * *

I’ve lostcount of how many drinks I’ve had, how many clubs we’ve been to, and one of my shoes. This has been one epic fucking girls’ night.

The sun is starting to rise as we drive down the surprisingly mellow strip. Kira is asleep on my shoulder, there are two bridesmaids making out at the other end of the limo, and Brooke’s sash is tied around her head like Rambo.

“You LA girls can hang,” Brooke says.

“I believe the term ‘party girl’ was invented by a Hollywood socialite. It’s in our blood.”

“Well, I can’t wait to get back home and tell everyone about my bachelorette party crashers.”

“I think we were invited,” I try and recall. “Where is home again?”

“Massachusetts,” she reminds me.

“What’s your fiancé like?” I ask.

“He’s a jerk.” She laughs.

“That doesn’t sound promising.”

“I’m just kidding. He’s a great guy, really. My best friend. We’ve been together forever, but we almost called off the whole wedding.”

“Why?” I perk up.

“’Cause I wasn’t sure if he was the commitment type of guy. I’m still not sure.”

“And you’re still going to marry him?”

Brooke nods. “I love him. I’m taking a leap of faith.”

“Has he cheated on you?”

“Nope. Never. But he likes his freedom. And his independence. I don’t know how the ball and chain is going to mix with his lifestyle.”

“That’s a big ass leap of faith.”

“Sometimes you just have to take one.” Kira suddenly yawns. “Ky and I got engaged after a month. And our parents got married after three months. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut.”

“Were you eavesdropping?” I accuse.
