“Yes.” The words fell out of my mouth before I could even think about them. I pulled him towards me again. My mouth was eager and hungry mid-thighes, I want to get out of here.”

“Good.” One large hand came to rest on my mid-thigh. Squeezing. “Because if I don’t get inside of you soon, I am going to explode.”

He wasn’t the only one. The need inside of me was like an elastic band that had been wound too tight. At any moment it would snap.

Sure, this was a bad, bad idea. But didn’t that make it more exciting? Didn’t it add to the excitement?

“Finish your beer, and I will be right back, ok?” His mouth claimed mine again, the hand on my leg scooting higher so it disappeared under my skirt completely. “I’m just…” He trailed off as I let my hand run up his chest. His breath caught into his throat. “Fuck Cali, I need to get you out of here., I’ll be right back. Don’t move.”

I waited, my fingers drumming on the scarred wood of the bar. And then I waited some more. It was probably only minutes, but it seemed longer. Maybe it was because I didn’t know anyone here. I had never been good at waiting by myself.

“You doing ok Cali?”

Smiling, I nodded across the bar as Gem started wiping it down. I knew she had to be busy, the bar was packed, but she had made the time to come and talk to me.

It was official Gem was good people.

“Yeah, I’m doing ok.” Bringing my beer to my lips, I grinned at her. “Truth is looking after me.” I winked, and she giggled. “Just as long as he is. He knows I will kick his ass if he doesn’t.”

I was sure she would try, I wasn’t so sure on whether she actually could or not.

“Just don’t fall …”

“Gem I am only here for one more day, I’m not about to fall for him.” Shaking my head, I rolled my eyes. “It’s just….”

“Sex.” She giggled. And I couldn’t help it. I giggled right back.

“Yeah, it’s just sex. Nothing more than that.”

Her eyes flicked to the cut draped across the back of my chair and then back up to my face. “Are you sure about that?”

I didn’t know what she meant, but I didn’t get the chance to ask as someone called her name down the bar. “Gem, Get your ass down here woman. We’re parched.”

In answer, she turned and gave the group of men the finger. I hid my smile. “I’ve got to go and sort out the riff-raff before they start helping themselves, but I have a break in fifteen minutes. I’ll come and sit with you if Truth isn’t back by then.”

Fifteen minutes? Would he really be fifteen minutes more? What the hell could he be doing that would take that long?

“Sure, that would be great.” I let my eyes drift across the bar. I could see Truth, hovering over a table with a group of men who looked just as dangerous as he did. I had seen a few of them at the party, but I didn’t know any of their names.

Every now and then they glanced in my direction. It was pretty obvious that they were talking about me. Or at least Truth was. And I didn’t know how I felt about that.

Flattered and uncomfortable. But mostly uncomfortable.

“Hey.”

I half jumped out of my stool. The bottle I had been holding slipped from between my fingers and would have crashed to the floor if someone hadn’t, caught it.

“Oops.” I looked up at the man who had taken Truths spot at my side. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t the Young man in front of me. “, Hey.” Plucking the bottle out of his hand, I placed it gingerly back on the bar. It was almost empty but I didn’t want any more accidents where it could smash. “Good catch.”

“Can I get you another one?”

His question took me by surprise. But I nodded. “Thanks that would be great thank you. I’m Cali.” I held out my hand, but instead of taking it like I expected, he stepped into my space. His stale breath washed over my face. I couldn’t help it, I scooted backwards, but the back of the stool trapped me. The warm leather of Truths cut pressed against my back.

His lips crushed mine, his hand gripping the back of my head as I pushed against his chest. What the hell was he doing?
