“Don’t blame me if we break the furniture.” Will shuffled about to get more comfortable, settling Patrick across his thighs. He slipped his hands around Patrick’s waist, holding him loosely in place.

“Wouldn’t dream of it.” Patrick brushed his lips against Will’s, smiling into the kiss, but pulled back as Will tried to deepen it. He smoothed his fingers over Will’s frown, his expression turning serious.

“What’s wrong?”

Patrick sighed and tipped his head back a little to glance up at the ceiling. Will clenched his fists in Patrick’s shirt in an attempt to hide his frustration. He’d thought they’d sorted everything out, but clearly not, judging by the look on Patrick’s face.

“Just tell me, Patrick.”

“Okay.” Patrick scooted closer, and put his hands on Will’s shoulders. “I was wondering what happens at the end of the summer, when I go back to uni?” He adjusted his position, and Will bit back a moan at the added pressure on his cock, sorely tempted to thrust his hips up a little.

But when Patrick looked down to meet his eyes again, unsure and nervous, he stilled and ran his hands up and down Patrick’s back in reassurance. Of course he was going to wonder about that.

“You’ve got about four more weeks before you go back, yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“A lot can happen in four weeks. But”—he tightened his grip when Patrick huffed and started to get up. He never let Will finish a bloody sentence—“if we’re still together, and I hope we are, then we’ll deal with it. If you want to, that is?”

“You know I do.” Patrick rolled his eyes this time, but the uncertainty hadn’t quite gone.

“I know I said I didn’t want to do the long-distance thing, and I didn’t at the time. If I’m honest, the whole thing makes me sort of uneasy. But I trust you.”

Patrick’s whole face lit up with his answering smile. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, in that case.”

Will gasped as Patrick rolled his hips, slow and deliberate, never taking his eyes off Will’s. He leaned closer, their lips almost touching as he whispered, “I think it’s time you showed me your new house.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Patrick kissed him, winding his fingers in Will’s hair and tugging. It felt so good to have Patrick back in his arms, Will couldn’t believe he’d ever thought about giving this up.

He slid his hands down farther, cupping Patrick’s arse and pulling him closer. Patrick moaned and bit Will’s bottom lip gently as he pulled back from the kiss. He smelled of coffee, with a faint hint of sweat, but Will didn’t give a shit as he mouthed along Patrick’s jaw to bury his face in the crook of Patrick’s neck.

“Is there something particular you want to see?”

“Um… what?” Patrick tilted his head to the side, and Will smiled against his skin.

“At my new house.”

“Oh….” Patrick had a slow rhythm going on now, his hips moving in a gentle tease that had Will half-hard already. “Yeah. I want to see your bedroom.” He pushed down a little harder, and Will nipped the top of Patrick’s shoulder in return. “I want you to fuck me in your bed.”

“Jesus Christ, Pat.” Will huffed out a laugh and rested his forehead against Patrick’s collarbone.

“Well, you asked.” Patrick pulled Will up and grinned. “I know there’s shit we should probably talk about, but can we do that later? I’ve been at work all day and miserable as fuck for the last two weeks. Can we go back to yours and make up for lost time?”

How could Will possibly say no to that? “Yeah, we can do that.”

Patrick got up and stepped back, holding out a hand for Will. Will took it, linked their fingers, and stood up. He felt a little lightheaded. He’d been against this from the very start—Patrick was everything Will thought he didn’t want—but he’d been wrong. So fucking wrong.

“Hey,” Patrick said, breaking into Will’s thoughts. “You okay?” He let go of Will to stack their chairs back on top of the table before twining their fingers again.

Will tugged on Patrick’s hand, pulling him closer. “Yeah. I am.” He cupped Patrick’s cheek with his free hand, drawing him in for a slow, soft kiss, and hoped Patrick felt how much he wanted this. “Ready?” he asked, not wanting to let Patrick go, but the promise of a big comfortable bed was hard to ignore.

Patrick switched his grip so they were holding hands properly and led Will toward the door. “I’ve been ready from the beginning.”

And, yeah, Will realized as he followed Patrick out the door and waited for him to lock up, Patrick had been ready for this from the start. Will was the one who’d needed to catch up.

But he was there now.
