I woketo a soft kiss on my forehead and whispered words in my ear.

“It’s just me. Go back to sleep.”

Somewhere in my mind, I recognised Finn’s voice. “Need to talk,” I mumbled, not able to open my eyes but knowing we had important things to discuss.

“It can wait.”

I was about to protest, but warm hands cupped my face, soft lips against mine for just a moment. “Don’t go,” I whispered.

“Not going anywhere.”

I was gently manoeuvred to lie down against a solid chest, my wrist propped up on a pillow. Nuzzling my face into the crook of Finn’s neck, I sighed as his familiar aftershave filled my senses. “Missed you.”

“I missed you too,” he rumbled, voice fading as I drifted off. I vaguely registered a light weight on my legs and Finn’s soft laughter, then sleep took me.

Chapter 13

Finn

I slept like a log, surprising considering I was on the sofa and not in my bed. Jasper’s warm weight on top of me was better than anything my mattress could offer though. I glanced down the length of him to where Angus lay sprawled over his legs at a weird angle. “How is that possibly comfy?”

I didn’t even get so much as a whisker twitch in response.

Jasper was much the same, his soft snores the only sound I got from him.

I was dying for the loo though, so I really needed to get up.

As carefully as I could, I eased out from under him, managing not to wake either him or Angus, and slipped out to the toilet.

My bag sat in the hall where I’d left it last night. The bag of presents I’d picked up sitting next to it. I still hadn’t got anything for Jasper, none the wiser whether I should or not.

I padded into my kitchen, pleasantly surprised to see how tidy it was, considering neither Cole nor Christian was the tidiest of fuckers. And Jasper was out of action.

Angus appeared at my feet, curling round my legs while meowing up at me. “Now I’m your favourite person, eh?” He stretched up, gently pawing my knees and looking up at me with big pleading eyes that I could never resist. And he knew it.

After feeding the both of us, I went back into the living room to find Jasper finally stirring. He spied me and smiled sleepily.

“You’re home. I thought I’d dreamt you.”

He looked all rumpled and adorable, and my heart stuttered at the sight of him on my sofa. “You were asleep when I got here, so I joined you.”

He glanced down at my jeans on the floor, then back at my sleep pants. “And I slept right through it?”

“Yeah.” He looked so disgusted with himself, I laughed. “You must’ve been knackered, you barely registered I was there.”

“Parents came round yesterday.” He broke off for a wide yawn. “Wetalked.”

“Ahh.” I didn’t pry. If he wanted me to know, he’d tell me. We had enough things of our own to discuss. Probably not best to do it while he was half-asleep though. “You hungry?”

He yawned again but nodded. “Starved.”

“Let me go make you some breakfast, then we can catch up properly.” I didn’t want to say talk, because that would sound ominous and hopefully this wouldn’t be.

With a full bellyand looking far more awake, Jasper leant back against the sofa and sighed happily. “That was delicious, thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” I ran my hand along the worktop where we’d eaten. “It’s good to be back home. I’m sick of hotels.”

“Was it a successful trip?”
