He headed into the en suite and return with a wad of loo roll. After giving half to Dom, he knelt on the bed and cleaned the come from Dom’s back before tossing the tissue into the nearby bin. “No one ever mentions how messy sex is.”
Dom rolled onto his back after disposing of his own tissues. He met Henry’s gaze, smile in place. “Worth it, though.”
“Oh yeah.” Henry couldn’t resist leaning in for a kiss. “I’m not disputing that.” He yawned and stretched his arms above his head, moaning at the satisfying crack. “What time is it anyway?” His phone was... somewhere. On the floor probably, lost in his pile of clothes.
Dom rolled over to the side and picked his phone up from the bedside table. “Nine fifteen.” He raised an eyebrow. “Got somewhere to be?”
Henry smiled and settled back on the pillows, arms behind his head. “Nope. For once I have absolutely nowhere I need to be.” It belatedly occurred to him that Dom probably did. He most likely had all sorts of plans that didn’t involve lazing around in bed with the rando he’d picked up the day before. Feeling suddenly out of place and self-conscious, Henry sat up quickly. “Sorry, I bet you have things to do. I’ll get dressed and be out—”
“Henry.” Dom’s hand on his arm stopped the flood of words and Henry let himself be tugged backwards. “You don’t have to rush off.”
Turning to face him, Henry sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.I guess it was bound to get awkward at some point.“I bet you have plans for today, right?”
Dom nodded. “I do. I have something planned for every day that I’m here. I like to make the most of my stay.”
“Such as?” Henry knew that was possibly a cue for him to make his excuses, but curiosity got the better of him. And besides, Dom had said he didn’t have to rush off.
“Well...” Dom sat up a little and propped himself up on his elbow. “I like to start the day with a nice walk down by the lake.” He pointed to the sliver of sunlight and blue sky peeking through the curtains. “Especially on a day like today.”
“Fair enough,” Henry conceded. Though a little chilly, a walk on such a cool, crisp morning sounded lovely. “What else?”
Dom grinned at him. “I might book the aerial walkway for Friday afternoon.”
Henry shuddered, and Dom laughed. “Moving on.”
“Well, there’s also plenty of restaurants to check out, and there’s the pool. I like to get my money’s worth since its one of the only things here that’s free.”
“Good point.”
Dom shrugged. “I fancy a massage at some point and maybe another visit to the sauna.”
“Now that’s more like it.” That sounded far more appealing than swaying on wooden platforms in the trees.
“I had planned on playing some badminton and tennis, maybe a few games of pool. But...” He shrugged again, and Henry finished off the sentence in his head.
But now I’m here on my own.
Dom pursed his lips, staring at Henry for a beat too long, before taking a deep breath. And although Henry had a fair idea of what he was going to say next, the words still took him by surprise. “Maybe I could still do them, if you wanted to join me?” When Henry didn’t answer immediately, he added, “Unless you’ve already got your own plans for the week, of course.”
“I’ve got no plans.” Henry smiled sheepishly, knowing how ridiculous that sounded. “Who comes to a place like this and has no idea of what to do, right?” He was surprised Dom wasn’t rolling his eyes already.
“Plenty of people,” Dom said, surprising him. “You can just chill for the week if that’s what you want.” He raised his hands. “No judgement here.”
Henry blew out a breath and covered his eyes with his hands for a moment, needing the break because Dom’s gaze was intense. And although he sensed Dom was being sincere, Henry did feel judged. “Kyle would’ve had an itinerary for every part of the fucking day,” he mumbled, not realising he’d said it out loud until Dom reached for his hands and gently prised them away from his face.
“I thought we’d already established that Kyle was an arsehole. Hmm?” He raised his eyebrows and Henry smiled. “That’s better. And if you want to spend the week doing fuck all, then do exactly that. It’s entirely up to you.” Twining his fingers with Henry’s, he matched Henry’s smile with one of his own. “But if you fancied doing a few of the things I suggested, then I would love to have some company.” Giving Henry’s hand a squeeze, he sat up. “Think about it while I go have a shower and then I’ll make us some brekkie.”
He got up and disappeared into the bathroom. Henry was half tempted to follow him, the thought of a naked and wet Dom stirring his cock to life. But instead he lay there, staring up at the ceiling wondering how things had turned so heavy.
He and Kyle had only been together for a little over six months, but clearly he’d had more of an effect on Henry than he’d realised.
Why did I let him dictate so much of our relationship?
Kyle wasn’t a terrible person. Yes, he’d been a knob at the end, but he wasn’t abusive. Henry had been quite happy to go along with his suggestions. Like the skiing holiday. He should’ve said no from the start, but he hadn’t. Just like he hadn’t said anything when Kyle took the piss out of him for working at Tesco.
It might not have been his dream job, but there was nothing wrong with it and it paid his bills. He’d kind of got stuck in a rut, tired of looking for a forever job he really wanted and not finding anything. And that had apparently trickled over into his personal life.
Did I think I didn’t deserve better? Or was I just too apathetic to look for someone else?
