When his other hand slid between her legs, she whimpered and lifted her hips toward it. His fingers skimming over her clit caused her to moan, and his hand slid away to encircle her waist.

Water poured off them when he rose from the tub and carried her from the room. She released her bite on his wrist as he set her on the bed and turned her over. Elena reached for him, but he grasped her hands and pulled them down to rest on her belly before bending to kiss her navel.

Her breath came in small pants as he made his way lower, kissing and savoring her as he tasted her. When his tongue flicked against her clit, her fingers twisted into the bedspread and her thighs fell open. He slid his hands under her ass and lifted her for better access.

Elena’s heart raced; she couldn’t catch her breath, and she didn’t want to. She’d woken sore and exhausted, but his blood ended all of that. Now, she felt more alive than ever before.

When she came, he lowered her ass to the bed and climbed back over her. Propping himself up on his hands, Logan gazed down at her flushed, beautiful face, white-blue eyes, elongated fangs, and felt something wild break free in him as he thrust into her.

He tried to tell himself to take it easy, but her fingers digging into his back, her legs wrapped around his waist, and her fangs sinking into his shoulder spurred him onward.

When he bit into her, power swelled between them as their bond twisted around them until it joined them together forever, and he lost all control.

Elena welcomed the savagery with which Logan took her. She relished it as the scent of blood and sex enshrouded her. When his thoughts mingled with hers and she felt his pure joy, all her lingering apprehension vanished.

She was his, he was hers, and they would love each other forever.

Chapter Fifty

Logan had beento the prison to see Josiah a few times since returning home. Unlike the compound in Arizona, Ronan moved Josiah off the grounds immediately after they brought the hunter home. He didn’t want Josiah anywhere near the compound when they had no idea what he was becoming or what would happen.

Some considered it cruel that Ronan removed the hunter from his mother and wife before they could see him. After what he’d seen in Arizona, Logan knew Ronan was doing them a favor.

He’d told Ronan and Josiah’s family that, but Josiah’s wife simply stood there and cried while his mother stared blankly back at Logan while he spoke. Josiah had no children, something Logan was grateful for as he tried to comfort the heartbroken women.

Logan told them it wasn’t a good idea, but they insisted on coming to the prison to see him. Nathan finally agreed and escorted them out here a few days ago. Since then, they hadn’t returned to the state-of-the-art prison complex Ronan established a few months ago. Logan didn’t blame them for choosing not to see Josiah as he was now.

The prison had once been an old school building. Ronan had it converted so some of the rooms were now cells with reinforced plumbing that couldn’t be used as a weapon. The building housed twelve cells but only one occupant.

Each cell had two-foot-thick glass walls and a door just as thick. Logan suspected Ronan was hoping to imprison a demon at some point, though the one they caught before hadn’t proven useful.

The cameras high in the walls and ceiling observed everything, and there was always someone watching the monitors. A handful of hunters and vampires guarded the prison; they reported in every hour.

More cameras monitored everything else inside and outside the building. The security system alerted those within the building the second someone got within a mile of the remote prison, even if it was the neighbors returning home.

There were so few neighbors, they knew every single one of them and could confirm it was truly them by their faces once they were out of their cars. Of course, none of those people knew they were on camera, which was how the Alliance liked it.

When Logan entered the prison with Nathan, he spotted Killean and Saxon standing by the bank of computer monitors taking up almost the entire back wall of the old cafeteria. Twirling a lollipop in his mouth, Declan sat before the monitors as he pointed to something on the screen.

Declan wore two sai swords strapped to his back, and though Logan couldn’t see what weapons the others had, none of them had left the compound unarmed. They may not be on the hunt, but they weren’t taking any chances. He had more than a few stakes and a small crossbow strapped to him.

They were so focused on the monitors that none of them looked over at them when they entered, but then, the others already knew who had arrived. It was never a party when someone walked through the door, but there was usually at least a hello or a wave. Instead, they got nothing.

Logan glanced at Nathan, who shrugged before they walked over to join the others. As they approached, Logan saw the screen they were all focused on over Declan’s shoulder. On the monitor, Josiah was lying in the middle of his cell and spread out like a kid about to make a snow angel.

For some reason, the sight caused fingers of unease to run up and down Logan’s spine. “What is he doing?”

Declan pulled the lollipop from his mouth and waved it at the screen. “That’s what we’d like to know. He hasn’t moved in five hours.”

“You’re kidding me.”

“Nope, we’ve been timing it. We took a couple of bets as to how long he would stay like that, but we have to keep remaking them,” Saxon said.

“Is he sleeping?” Nathan asked.

“He’d still turn over, snore, twitch, or something,” Killean said. “But other than breathing, he hasn’t so much as flinched.”

“That’s a little strange,” Logan murmured.
