Em nodded and started moving again.“Right.The lady from Tiberia Games.The chaos mage.”
The elf paused.“You know her?”
“Haven’t met her, but I have seen her.”She looked to Duran.“Let’s go.”
He nodded.“Yes, my lady.”
The other male elves looked at them in shock.They passed the photographer, and Em heard a clatter.She looked down and knew she couldn’t bend, so she reached out her hand, and the USB stick flew into her palm.She was about to hand it to the elf with the camera when the download started.Em’s vision flared, and she understood so much more about what she was in that moment.
It felt like hours, but she slowly straightened and met the elf’s gaze.“Here you go.”
The woman took the USB stick and said, “I didn’t bring this with me.”
“Well, it must have fallen out of one of your men.You should train them better.”
The entire group gasped as Em was moved through the halls.Duran was highly amused.“You are going to hear about that later.”
“I have no doubt, but I was nearly kicked to death by a pack, and I don’t like being confronted by groups led by an omega.It makes me angry.”
Duran nodded.“That is fair.Have you been able to get therapy?”
“Nope.”
“May we look around to find someone?”
“Do I have to pay?”
“No.”
“Then sure.”
He sighed.“We will be here for you when you are ready.”
She chuckled.“It’s a good thing you live for a really long time.”
Luna had offered her a safe house, and Em had taken it.The older woman asked, “How long do you think you will be staying here?”
Em paused.“I can leave now if I will be a problem.”
“No.Dear.No.I just wanted to see if you had matches or something else was in the works.”
“Right.I think I just need to get through the court case and get out the other side.I know I am nothing like Zara.Luna explained the situation.I will stay out of your way and keep to myself.I am not here to get in the way.I am here to hide until I can be free.”
“Fair enough.We will share at least one meal a day.”
“I will start now.What do you want to eat?”
Em looked at Emma, and they got up to examine the kitchen.When she had a basic outline for a meal, she got to work.

Emma spoke to Lunaon a video call.“Has anyone not fucked her over?She has so many layers between herself and the world, it is astonishing that she can move.”
Luna sighed.“She’s never been offered help before.”
“Well, the book club is good for that.”
“No.We aren’t.She’s been a member for nearly a year.The more obvious alterations are always given priority, and she was slowly being taken apart at the hands of her family.We didn’t even look at her.”
