“I know for me, I’m going to go out on my boat and sail fordayswhen the Blight is gone,” Rune continued. “I’ve gone far from the village underwater, but never over it. So I want to see what all my favorite spots are like above the water. What some of the land masses are like—ones that we know are there, but have never seen. That’s what I’ll do.”

Florian considered for a long moment. What would he do when this was all over? He would have to go back to the Winter Court, at least, but surely there would still be a lot to do.

“I think I’d go to Earth,” he said slowly. “And tell my uncle he can come back to the Veil if he wants. Even just to visit. I don’t know how long he’s lived on Earth now, to be honest. I’m sure he’d at least want to see it.”

“You two should be focusing,” Kade barked out from where he and Koji had paused their sparring. His voice was stern, but his expression was mild. He wasn’t really mad, Florian knew, but theyweresupposed to be paying attention.

For a moment they were both silent, watching Kade and Koji, then finally Rune said softly,

“That sounds nice. I’m looking forward to it.”

Florian nodded, still looking away from her. It made him anxious to think too much about it now.

“Yeah,” he said after a beat. “I’m looking forward to it, too.”
