The asshole has been teasing me all day long, after he made me come in the shower this morning. He’s been touching and kissing me, and these hormones have not been helping at all. He’s driving me crazy, which I guess is his plan.

When we pull up to the garage, he gets out with his men, looking around to make sure there’s no one in hiding, waiting for our arrival because an attack can happen anywhere and at any time. Once it’s all clear, he helps me out of the vehicle.

He gives his men their orders before he walks us over to the elevator. When we step into the penthouse, he walks me over to the seating area that faces the city skyline.

“Sit. I’ll go get our lunch ready,” he tells me, and my stomach chooses that moment to rumble. At this point, it’s a late lunch. “I guess my baby is hungry already.”

“This baby is always hungry,” I grumble. “At this rate, I’ll be as big as a house.”

“Doesn’t matter, baby. You’ll still be perfect,” he says with a huge grin on his face before he walks to the kitchen. I hear him puttering around for a few minutes before he comes back with two plates filled with roasted vegetables and salmon, along with some chocolate cake. Yum!

“You don’t have to eat the same things I do, you know?”

“I know. But I don’t mind,” he states.

“This smells amazing! Remind me to thank Dorothy later. And thank God you brought cake too, or I would have had to stab you,” I joke.

He laughs like I just said the funniest thing ever. “Why on earth would you want to stab your hot-as-hell husband to be?”

“I know you’re supposed to eat healthy during pregnancy, but a girl still deserves some sweet treats once in a while,” I tell him in all seriousness. “Otherwise, I’ll get cranky and no one wants that.”

“I’ll keep that in mind, babe.”

“Good, see that you do,” I say with a huge smile on my face.

When we’re done eating, he takes our plates into the kitchen before coming back and helping me off the chair. We move to the other set, the one that faces the television. He lies back, pulling me into his arms so that we’re cuddling while he puts on a movie for us to watch.

“I’m sorry I didn’t take you out for lunch,” he murmurs a moment later.

“It’s okay.”

“It’s not. It won’t always be like this. I just don’t want anyone to see you around until I have my ring on your finger so everyone knows that you’re mine.”

“Possessive much?” I ask with a quirk of my brows.

“Hell yeah! I’m not leaving anything to chance.”

“Aw, so sweet.” I laugh. We spend the rest of the afternoon cuddling on the couch until dinner time. Before I can ask what we’re having for dinner because I’m hungry again, Enzo’s phone buzzes.

“Yes. Send them up,” he says into the phone after answering. A few minutes later, there’s a knock on the door, and Enzo gets up to open it.

“Your surprise is here, along with dinner.” He smiles.

“Oooh, I’m ready!” I say with excitement, sitting up on the couch. From where I’m sitting, I can’t see the door, but I hear footsteps coming my way a second later. I look up in time to see Giana and Bruno following behind Enzo.

“Giana!” I scream with excitement. She looks the same as the last time I saw her, a crooked grin spreading across her face and the same messy ponytail she’s always sporting. Looking at her, it’s like no time at all has passed.

She quickly puts down the bags she was carrying and rushes over to me. I’ve just managed to get to my feet when she pulls me in for a hug, our arms tight around each other. Well, as tight as it can be with my huge belly between us. Though it’s a hug, I hope it conveys how much I missed her these last few months without her. Just thinking about it has tears instantly welling in my eyes. We continue to hold on to each other, squealing for a few minutes longer before Enzo clears his throat and Giana lets go of me.

“We’ll be in my office while you two enjoy girl time,” Enzo says, walking over to me and placing a kiss on my forehead. “Don’t forget to eat your dinner.”

Damn, I really fucking love how this man takes care of me. I know it’s only been a couple of days, but in that time, he’s shown me what our life will look like.

He’s always making sure I’m okay. He asks me how I’m doing and how I'm feeling, he makes sure I eat, and he’s always by my side, except for that first day when he went to the office.

I know he’ll eventually have to go back to work because he’s running a billion-dollar empire, but for now, I’m loving all the attention I’m getting.

He and Bruno leave for his office on this floor, leaving Giana and me alone. She pulls me in for another hug, and when she lets go, I just stare at her.
