Jackson’s eyes met Ethan’s. “Hey, babe, Ethan just got here, so I’m going to let you go and figure this out. Yeah. I know. Okay, yeah, bye.”

Jackson ended the call and stared in confusion at his phone for a second before looking at Ethan again. “Okay, I’m confused.”

“I’m not getting married.”

“So why does Mia think you are? Or maybe she didn’t say that. Maybe she said you should? I honestly don’t know. She was squealing too much.”

Ethan shook his head in amusement. Mia was the big sister he had never had. And now that she was married to Jackson, they were related. She had been best friends with Jackson sincethey were kids, and he couldn’t remember a time when she wasn’t around.

“So, remember Lily? Apparently, she’s a romance author. I asked Mia to help me find her books, but there weren’t any. So, long story short, we discovered she writes under a pen name and that she is Lillian Taylor.”

Jackson let out a low whistle. “Oh. Now it all makes sense. Mia is fan-girling.”

“Yep.”

“Dude, you better warn Lily before Mia marches over here and breaks down her door to get her autograph. This could get awfully embarrassing.”

Ethan smiled. “Maybe I should let her. It would save me having to get Lily to admit who she is.”

“Trust me. You don’t want that. It’ll just embarrass us all.”

Ethan laughed. “All right. I just need to get her to open up.”

“Good luck,” Jackson said. Then he turned his mower on and got back to work.
