The doorbell rang, and Karen stood up, walking toward the door with James following.

“I agree you should talk to your family. You clearly have a knack for event planning and calming down a chaotic bride,” Miles said.

Kelly smiled at him. His face was kind, and she reminded herself that she would leave soon so nothing could come between them. He had a life here with his little girl. Even if she started her own event planning business, she would still be in Colorado to help her family.

“Thank you for giving me the chance to help,” she said.

“I’m pretty sure I’m the one who should thank you. I was not in my element. Event planning is not something I ever want to do. Just have me make the food and let me stay out of the rest and it’s all good,” Miles said.

Several large pizza boxes were set down in the kitchen and everyone took turns grabbing slices. Kelly watched as Miles prepared a plate for Emma, which included a side salad and breadsticks as well. When Emma frowned at him, he told her how healthy the salad was and how it would make her big and strong. After that, she ate it without complaint.

“So, have you tried all the food at the restaurant yet?” Jessa asked.

Kelly looked at her across the table and smiled. “Not all, but I’ve tried a lot. Miles is an excellent chef.”

“Have you tried the nachos?”

Kelly frowned. “No. I haven’t tried those. I’m not a big nacho person.”

The entire room went silent, and it looked as if everyone’s head swiveled toward Jessa. Jessa only blinked at Kelly, andKelly looked around in confusion, laughing nervously. “Did I commit a cardinal sin or something…?”

“The nachos are the best thing Miles has ever made,” Jessa said.

“I beg to differ,” Miles muttered.

“And if you haven’t tried them, you’re missing out. That’s all,” Jessa said.

Kelly looked around, and everyone resumed eating their dinner as if nothing had happened. She looked at Miles, who only chuckled before going back to his food.

That was weird.
