First thing in the morning, Miles got out of bed and carried his suitcase to the front door. The house was still asleep, and his flight wasn’t set to leave for another four hours. He wandered into the kitchen and opened the fridge. It was well stocked, and Miles nodded. He could work with this.

An hour later, Cole came into the kitchen rubbing his eyes. “Dude, what smells so good?”

Miles smiled. “I made you and Ava breakfast as a thank you for letting me stay here last night.”

Cole clapped him on the back, taking a plate Miles handed him. “It’s unnecessary, but I’ll accept it.”

Ava came in only a minute later. “Smells like Miles is cooking.”

Miles smiled and slid an omelet onto a plate before handing it to Ava. “I think this is how you were ordering it at the resort.”

“Oh, my God, yes. This is amazing. Thank you. If my best friend weren’t already in love with you, I would knock down your door.”

Miles blushed, but he didn’t miss Cole freezing and looking between the two of them. But before Ava noticed, he wentback to eating his food as if nothing had happened. There was something going on between those two. He’d bet money on it.

Miles made himself an omelet and sat at the table. They ate in silence, and when they finished, Cole offered to drive Miles to the airport. He thanked him, and the two of them left after saying goodbye to Ava.

The drive to the airport was fast. When they arrived, Cole parked at the curb and looked over at Miles. “Take care of my sister.”

Miles smiled. “I promise you I’ll treat her like the queen she is.”

Cole rested a hand on Miles’s shoulder. “That’s all I ask.”

Miles got through the airport quickly and bounced his foot. He couldn’t wait to see Kelly, and the minutes dragged on. Several hours later, after a two-hour layover in Denver, he arrived back in Wintervale. He nearly sped to his parents’ place, knowing Kelly was staying with them. While waiting in the airport, he had texted Jackson to make sure Emma was good staying with them another night. Jackson sent back several inappropriate comments and emojis. Miles would have rolled his eyes, but it made him laugh.

He pulled up at his parents’ place and hopped out of the car at record speed. He didn’t even knock; he just burst through the door and followed the noise to the kitchen. There she sat with his parents. They all had a drink in hand and were laughing at whatever had been discussed. Their heads all swiveled in his direction, and the smile that lit Kelly’s face had his stomach doing somersaults. He was in love. It damn-near knocked him off his feet.

He took two swift steps toward her and pulled her up out of her seat, smashing their lips together. Normally he wouldn’t show public affection in front of his parents like that, but desperate times.

His dad cleared his throat, and Miles pulled back, looking over at his parents. “Oh, sorry. Didn’t see you there.”

James snorted. “Sure. You crazy kids get out of here.”

Miles looked at Kelly, who only stared back at him with the same lust-filled eyes he knew he was sporting.

“Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad. See ya later,” Miles said.

Kelly turned toward them and walked backwards as Miles dragged her along. “Thank you so much for the hospitality. It was so great seeing you.”

Karen only laughed and waved as Miles grabbed Kelly’s suitcase, which sat near the door, and left his parents’ place. He opened the passenger-side door for Kelly and closed it for her before putting the suitcase in the trunk and going around to his side. Then he made the short drive back to his place. As soon as they were inside, he pressed Kelly against the door and kissed her frantically. She returned his enthusiasm.

He kissed her jaw and then her neck, working his way down her body, stripping her clothes off as he went. When he reached her most intimate area, he looked up at her before lifting her leg and hooking it over his shoulder. Then he ran his tongue along her seam. She shuddered and gripped his head.

“I missed you,” she whispered.

“I missed you more,” he said. “I’ve been dreaming about this, and having to wait one more day was complete torture.”

His tongue dipped into her, stroking and sucking until she was thrashing against the door and moaning his name. Her body shuddered, and he licked her clean. Then he stood, picked her up, and carried her to his room.

“What about Emma?” Kelly asked as if she had just realized where they were and that Emma might be there.

“She’s at Jackson and Mia’s for the night,” Miles said. “I get you all to myself.”

“She won’t be upset?”

Her concern made him grow even fonder of her. “No. They have a clowder of cats that she adores.”
