“Do you enjoy living here?” Megan asked.
Dixie set the nachos down in front of them, and Megan thanked her before gesturing for Jeff to eat as well.
“I do. The community in this town is great. I figured this would just end up being a quick stay working at the resort for a year and then move on. But I fell in love with it. Wintervale is special.”
Megan nodded as she chewed on a chip. “It is. This has become my home base, kind of. I used to always travel with Jessa, but now that I’m mostly solo traveling, it doesn’t have the same thrill.”
Jeff’s heartbeat sped up, but he wasn’t sure why. He barely knew her. “Are you thinking about moving here?”
“I don’t know. The thought has crossed my mind. Especially since Jessa is here.”
Before he could ask her more questions, Noah and Jessa came into the restaurant. “Sorry we’re late,” Jessa said.
Her hair was messy as she took a seat next to Megan. Jeff raised an eyebrow at Noah. “Uh-huh.”
Noah only smiled brightly. Jessa didn’t waste any time digging into the nachos and telling Noah to order more.
“I’m going to miss this,” Megan said.
Jessa shoved a large chip into her mouth and spoke around it. “Miss what?”
“Enjoying nachos with you.”
“Well, youcanstay, you know.”
Megan smiled softly, and her eyes flickered over to Jeff’s. “Maybe someday.”
