She giggled. “I can imagine you’d figure that out real quick.”
“Definitely do.”
The server came over, and they placed their orders.
“So what have you been up to for the last few months?” she asked.
He chuckled. “Just working really. Not much going on around here.”
“Do you ever get bored?”
He shrugged. “Sometimes. But it isn’t any different from living somewhere else. You just need to find things you enjoy doing. There may not be events going on constantly like there would be in a large city, but that’s okay. I just like having a community surrounding me. It’s more important to me than the busy life.”
Megan nodded thoughtfully. “That makes sense.”
“You travel a lot, right?”
“I do.”
“Ever get sick of it?”
She pursed her lips. “Lately, yes. I’ve been wondering what it would be like to settle down somewhere.”
Settle down here.
The thought came out of nowhere and startled him. He couldn’t say that. He couldn’t tell her to settle down here. Especially when they barely knew each other. That was a big ask. For now, he would wait and hope they got closer each time she came to town, and he was thankful he had the moment right then to spend with her… even if it was short.
